Jut was born of an evlish father in a rural town comprised mostly of humans. As Jut's mother would tell the story, Jut's father was an adventurer and a man of the land. One day he entered the quaint, isolated town called Dannin, in search of supplies and a soft bed. The supplies he needed could not be found but the soft bed he slept in was provided by a young woman named Arine Harthbere, who inherited the inn he happened upon from her late father. For five years the elvish adventurer returned to this town once a month and slept in this inn even though no adventure was to be found and many of the townsfolk were racists who disliked the sight of an elf around their homes. Arine, Jut's mother, and the elf fell in love in secret and on the fifth year announced their marriage and the coming of a child.
The announcement enraged a man named Tenris Fallowstan, the son of a town elder and wealthy landowner, who had vowed to win the love of Arine from the time they were children. Tenris' father was also upset, as he encouraged his son to seek to marry Arine so that he may aquire the valuable Inn and it's surrounding property. Tenris and his father almost immediately began to devise a plan to get rid of this elvish atrocity and aquire the Inn all in one blow. It was not difficult for them to procure the support of many of the townsfolk as many of them were bigots and the thought of an interracial couple living in their town, let alone running a buisness, made them cringe.
A week after the announcement the town's militia came to Arine's door and took her soon-to-be-husband away to the barracks and jail. When Arine asked why her fiance was being taken from her the captain of the militia spit at her and said "This... elf... has murdered ten of the Fallowstan estate's servants last night." It was obvious to Arine that the whole thing was a lie. In fact there was not one townsperson who truly believed that ten servants were murdered let alone that Arine's finace did it. There was no evidence, no bodies and no motive. Nevertheless in trial the elf was sentenced to death and Arine's inn and property was taken as reperations for the Fallowstan family's loss. It was also decreed that no person was to ever speak the name of the elvish adventurer ever again.
Arine was allowed to stay and work at the Inn as a hostess and her child was born named as Allen Harthbere, a bastard half-elf child who was outcast by everyone. Tenris waited a few years before he began to court Arine once more. Arine was cold to him and blamed him for the events that transpired, and because of this Tenris grew angry again. He demoted her from hostess to serving wench and eventually forced to her to leave the inn and move to a small house on the outskirts of town when Jut was 4. There she raised Allen on a small amount of money she made by selling clothes to travelers until he was 12 and old enough to go out into the forests and gather food to take care of them both. When asked why he was never told his father's name Arine simply told him that she could not risk igniting the anger of the townsfolk again but in truth she could not bear to say it lest her heart break from pain.
When Allen was 19 a particularly dry year befell the area and food was scarce. Not being able to find ample food for weeks, Arine fell ill. In despiration, Allen trespassed on a portion of the forest that belonged to Tenris Fallowstan and found meat there, which was still plenty due to restrictions on hunting placed by the council of elders. For a month Allen nursed his mother with food he hunted for on Tenris' land until one day he was caught carrying a deer on his back while leaving the forest. Tenris had the town in an uproar. The concil of elders came to the conclusion that Allen was dangerous and that he might one day follow in the footsteps of his father. Arine and Allen were told to leave the town and never come near it again. They traveled for a week before Arine died from her illness.
Aften buried his mother in a small forest grove. With her he buried all his ties to his home town including his name. "Mother," he spoke out loud at the foot of her grave, "you decided long ago to take the name of my father to your grave, and now you will take mine as well. I will no longer be Allen Harthbere of Dannin." He travelled for some time and eventually came across a travelling band of performers. One of the performers claimed to have clairvoyant powers and challenged him to ask her anything. He asked of her "What is my name?" and she smiled and gazed into her crystal ball for some time before looking up and saying "Jut. Your name is Jut. Am I wrong?" He smiled, replying "Lucky guess." and walked away.
From there he ventured from city to city in search of a place he could call home. With each city he saw more and more of what reminded him of his hometown. The larger the city the more its laws and institutions were used by the elite to opress less fortunate people. He decided the true nature of laws and society was a tool to use against the helpess masses. The right choice was always clear to him, it was never hard to decide whether something was good or bad. He believed that all people could determine on their own what the right choices for their lives were and that they could live a good life without the restriction of laws and society. Jut went to live in the wild, away from the cities and governments that he felt were suffocating him. However, after a few years of this Jut grew lonely and missed the sight of other people so he decided to venture back into society to see if he could find others like him and somehow make a difference or at least help the less fortunate cope with their burden.
