Nobody knew where he came from, or what made him come out from the wilderness. The truth is that he was an outcast from his tribe. Having disobeyed the tribes chieftain several times, he barely escaped alive. For months, he walked around in the forests, trying to find a place where he was accepted. The more time he spent alone, the more insane he got. To avoid becoming completly insane, he unleashed his fury and sadness on any goblin he encoutered. With each goblin slain, the calmer he felt. After two years in the wilderness, he ran into civilized areas. At this point, so many goblins had died by his hands, that was as close to harmless as you can get an orc. However, the first weeks in the villages, he was driven away, yelled at, and even tried assassinated. Again, the orcish fury woke up in him, and the villagers either had to live with him as a part of their community, or get a dangerous enemy upon them.

As Dürburz is on the brink of madness at any time, in addition to his severe drinking problems, he has a hard time finding friends and allies. Because of this, he can often be found walking around alone. But that is a problem you have to live with as an orc.
