Raven is quite young by elf standards.. only 86 years old. He father was a Wild Elf and mother a Wood Elf, Griffin and Forsythia Nightbreeze. Forsythia was a Ranger for her Wood Elf community and spent much of her time scouting the wild woodlands where she adopted a second life with a wild elf tribe and grew a fondness to a particuliar Wild Elf.. Griffin. Griffin lived as a simple hunter for his tribe. Raven would often spend much of his time with his mother. As Raven grew stronger, Forsythia began bringing him along with her on scouting expeditions and often to her native community.
An unfortunate incident occured when Raven was only 65. While scouting, Forsythia, Raven and her scouting party came upon an old crypt after searching for the cause of odd behaviour among local birds. A resident Vampire was growing in power there and attempted to destroy the scouting party after they entered his tomb. Raven, being very young, was posted as Sentry on the tomb entrance inside the crypt. Two of the 8 Rangers in the party managed to flee with their lives but not without serious injury. The men carried his mother out of the tomb mortally wounded. Forsythia barely had enough life to save a few last words to her son, Raven before she succumbed to her wounds.
Raven bore the ill news to his father who mourned terribly for months. For the next two years Raven helped his father with his hunting and would accompany him into the wood elf community to sell animal pelts. His father would always tell him stories of wild elf lore, mostly legends of the Prince of Wolves that always fascinated Raven.
Raven finds himself often wondering among the woodlands as is his wont as a Wild Elf. Frequently he recalls the crypt where the Vampire was discovered with fright and horror but a deep urge to return and destroy it. He finds a common bond with the creatures of the wood, an almost animal instinct and compassion that drives him like a Preying Wolf chasing a Fleeing Rabbit or a Serene Linx napping under an Oak. He finds the natural wild a sensical place, hunter and prey complete a life cycle - a natural pattern of existance. His father taught him to respect all these creatures - reminding him that the Wolf gives thanks and respect to the Rabbit for giving it life.
Raven has tried to live as he believed his mother would have him and has taken a special hatred toward the minions of undead. He has become a Ranger. |
