Default Character Submission - Half Ogre Barbarian

NAME: Uggonap Wartburg (aka Uggo) Age: 18 Race: Half-Ogre Align: CG-ish Diety: n/a Class: Barbarian Bio/ Creation: Eighteen years ago, the sun rose, like it always had. It had been up only a couple hours when the caravan came across the bundle of rags on the side of the road. The brightly colored caravan stopped where its outrider waited. Flamboyant streamers and pennants gently swayed in the breeze as Humans, Elves and Dwarves gathered around to examine the bundle. When Marcus Wartburg, the circus owner and former Rouge adventurer approached, one elf volunteered their synopsis, “Its part Ogre.” Marcus looked intently at the large bundle in rags laying on the road. “Good.” he said, “We keep it.” At the age of five, the moniker 'Uggo’ became his name, yet no one could recall how it came to pass. When he was twelve, the circus was about to perform for a royal family, and Marcus, responsible for all members of his troupe, forced to submit an official name to 'register' the Half-Ogre before they were allowed to perform. The bestowed name was a variant of the slight; “Uggonap Wartburg”. Uggo grew up knowing only the circus and the extended family it creates. No where else can you find Dwarves, Elves, Gnomes, Humans, and Orcs mixed together into a tolerant and accepting nature of the circus community. Uggo learned this acceptance of others as well as to be wary when dealing with 'outsiders’ (town-folk). Due to the amount of work, his Ogre heritage and interdependence of the members - he never formed a contact or made friends with anyone or anything outside of the show. Schooled by whomever would teach him anything, Uggo remains illiterate yet possess a wealth of specialized knowledge that would normally beyond the bounds of a Half-Ogre. He learned to stay out of sight by day, how performance tents could be set up in just a few hours, how to interlink boards and limbs to make a quick fence and more. His daily routine was filled with laborious tasks; lifting, moving, and carrying the heaviest of equipment and materials. Feeding and other care and providing of the animals was also his responsibility, this including poop-shoveling for the Oxen, Elephants and Mammoths. Even after becoming the circus strong man, he continued to be what the Halfling knife-thrower called “Dung Slinger”. Most comments and insults were shouldered patiently from those within, yet, he had to be restrained when faced with prejudice and taunts from outsiders. Once a group of human attendees sought to take advantage of one of the female elves. Thinking they had caught her alone, they were unaware and unprepared for the very protective Half-Ogre circus strong man, capable of extreme rage when he heard her cry out. Their bodies were never found. Yet, as all things must pass, so did his idyllic life style. While camped roadside between towns, the circus was massacred. Unprepared – the troupe fought as best they could, but they were no match for the superior numbers of organized brigands they faced. When the sun brought the new day, the Wartburg Extravaganza was not around to see it. Only a few straggling performers, the charred and smashed wagons, isolated fires and corpses. Uggo grabbed a large double bladed axe, a bag, and began walking towards the next town. >> Sterl
