Yes it is and I was coming to post something like that right now. I thought about this and remember that we have done this two ways...
1) They can not relevel at all and they just do not use ANY paladin things.
2) We set them to a level 5 paladin and they go from there as another class.
3) We set them to a level 5 paladin and give them all of their other levels as a fighter (-1 level).
