I liked these for the following reasons:

we were missing some from the rounded set
they are not animated
they are a little different from the norm
they catch your eye and make you want to read what the person wrote to show off that emotion while scanning threads
they have a little more colour

I will put them back to what they were though if the community misses them. Feel free to create a poll if you feel you want to campaign to have the old ones back.
