Re: Magic Items and Charges I think that instead of charges magical items should hold a percentage value. This percentage is the amount of "use" they have. Each usage drains a certain percentage of their "use" (or mana, or whatever!).
The percentage value could be considered a "charge", as some other games do something similar. It would be interesting to see this charge applied to the overall effect of the item. For example, the Wand of Fireball will deal 100% of it's damage, which for the sake of this argument is 50. Each use will drain 5%. So, the next time you use it the Fireball's damage will be 47.5.
Do you follow? The overall charge is the max damage output of the item. Of course the 5% drain is just for the sake of an argument, but I see it as being very interesting. I like the idea of "charged" items getting tired with use. |
