Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

| Divine Relation I remember a post about this a LONG while back, but I cannot recall the standing that was taken by the GM's regarding this "spell." I seem to recall that it was actually an action taken by the divinely touched while they were praying in which they would ask for guidance and thus receive it in the form of the relation your deity has to the character you cast it on, but due to the limits of NWN it was made a spell for it to even work.
Am I right on this or is there more to it then that?

If people start abusing it, let them know. I've seen it be a RP killer before.

this is what you are looking for. consensus was that no would know....but that the caster would NOT know the actual diety but rather would only know if they were friendly and such.

| Re: Divine Relation I can think of one good RP uses for this spell. As it has been stated, the only thing that this spell does is tell the cleric what the target's deity is in relation to the cleric's deity.
The best usage of this spell, is if your cleric is contemplating the use of a resurrection spell. You can cast Divine Relation on a dead PCs body, and find out if the dead character worships an enemy of your god.

On at least 3 instances, people came up to me back then and cast that spell then went right into "Ca'duzite....". They were also doing it to my friend, who was a level 4 Corathite at the time.
I asked them how they knew, because we were actually trying to hide what we were, and they said Divine Relation. When in truth looking back now, it was because the Server Status said so, and the spell Divine Relation was being miss used by them.
*shurgs* Still funny reading that post again. My attempt at sarcasim backed by frustration brought out the fire works for some folks. =)

| Re: Divine Relation Yeah agree Drizzy. Lucky my deity has 2 allied, and 3 friendly and 5 neutral dieties, so its a bit easier to narrow it down. "Hmm, yer either ah brandy or Ca'duzy" | | |

| That is correct, nobody knows you're actually doing it. Quote: |
Are deity relations generally known ICly?
| A cleric of deity A, would know the relations deity A has with others.
Cleric of Deity A would know a lot less about the relation of deity B or C with others.
Non-cleric characters may know the rough things about their deity's feelings to another deity (especially when pretty devout and only following a single deity), but they wouldn't be walking encyclopedia's of relationships.
Even I OOCly (as Loremaster) don't know them all from the top of my head and I've been working with them for years, so a character really shouldn't know all relationships either, especially non-obvious ones.

Oh, btw, let's make sure this doesn't fall into another conversation about the evils of Divine Relation.

As a cleric, I use Divine Relation all the time now, but I use it in the manner that Leather, Orth, and the others stated and intended it to be used in the original post. They stated that others do not see you doing it, I always cast that spell in combat and if someone says something i have always sent them a tell saying you can not see the spell.
I have also not had any other issues with that spell since the original post. I would like to think that some of that is due to the original post, but the other part of me knows that spell is no longer an issue with Daralith because he kind of stands out now =)
