Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Guild starting share

I have a little situation here. The Angels are now well on track to hand out the starting share to those who invested in the guild with me.

My problem lays in that one of the investors is dead, but his brother was accepted into the guild to replace him. The guild is a family business, with a strong sence to family.

Now I would have personaly gave the share to that char, but since it is the same player that played the char that died, I wonder if it would fall into the mauling rules.

Can I have a clarification on this please?

My response would be this:

This is primarily an internal guild thing, but since it does touch up against the anti-muling rules, I'd say it would require some consideration of that perspective.

You have said this new character is the brother of a founder who has since died. The key question is, at any time prior to the death of said founder was the new character ever names as an heir or successor in any way. Making such declarations after-the-fact are not really valid.

For example, if this brother character was created after the first character died, then I'd definitely say "no," because it just looks too much like an attempt to mule and to gain an advantage (i.e. inheritance, right of birth, etc.). Things like this are expressly forbidden for character creation, I don't see why such a claim would be considered after-the-fact. I use this same metric for deciding on wills in the Grievance forum.

On the other hand, if the brother character was around and listed as a beneficiary prior to the death of the first character, then at at least it can be argued and scrutinized.

Even so, my personal opinion is that the "shares" of the guild should be divided between the surviving founding members. To do otherwise runs the risk of crossing that thin grey line.

After checking the will he was not listed as a benificary of his brother but he was mention in the will as a last will that we take him in the guild.
