A few notes about myself:
I've been gaming for a number of years, and am still an active pen an paper player and GM. I got introduced to Layonara through the same person who introduced me to Neverwinter - and only now, looking back, do I suspect those two occurrences might have been related. I'm still poking my way around the toolset, but I hope to create some memorable encounters, even if they aren't always QUITE what people expect to happen.
Myself as a GM:
I fancy myself a clever lad. While I'll occasionally run 'bashy', expect a number of puzzles and mysteries, and I encourage good roleplaying.
That said, sometimes bad things happen to good people. I, for my part, will attempt to alleviate this as much as possible, however poor decisions may lead to poor outcomes, and I'm not especially afraid of letting failure that seems to be happening, happen.
Quest Rules
Not too many of these.
- Apply common sense to as many situations as are feasible.
- Level limits are there for your protection. Players beneath the level cap for a quest may find it difficult to survive said quest, and attend such events at their own risk, and only if those of suitable level do not fill the quest.
- Party caps are (largely) non-negotiable. Preference in the event of overflow will be given to those who have signed up first, and then rolled for.
- Resting: ask first. I may likely say 'If you can', and laugh ominously (muwhahahaha), but there may be parts where it is thematically inappropriate for you to blow a few Z's. You will be informed.
- No looting unless specifically allowed.
- Standard quest rules apply regarding respawning - don't do it unless asked to! If you die repeatedly (i.e. three times), which shouldn't happen, you'll auto respawn, but don't collect your grave.
- Be courteous and creative. If you think of a new way of solving a problem, by all means let me know! I'll tell you if it's feasible (and if so, what you must do.)
Errata:
I encourage people to ask for clarification on points that I make that they do not understand. If you're meant to be confused, I'll tell you so.
The PC dicebag is your friend. Don't spam it, but you WILL be making ability/skill/save/other rolls, likely many and often.
Come in with an open mind.
Above all else, have some fun. I can't always guarantee a happy ending - often, that'll be up to you - but I can say for almost-sure that you'll meet some interesting obstacles along the way!
