Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Default New character - Vilanos Listorian EDITED

Character name: Vilanos Listorian
Age: 30
Class: Fighter/cleric
Race: half-elf
Subrace: none
Aligment: NG
Deity: Lucinda
Domains: Healing, Magic
Short bio:

My father was a human blacksmith and my mother an elf.
I was born and grew up with in a small and poor fishing human village near the sea.
I remember my mother as the most beautiful of all the women in the village, but some
of the other women spoke ill of her because of race. Because of my fathers crafting skills, people seldom keep up a bad attitude for long - they needed things fixed.
As a boy i helped my father keeping the fire hot, and getting tools for him.
If I burned myself my mother was allways their to comfort me.
A the age of nine my village was attacked by goblinoids and my family was
killed. The lost of his parents is one think that will always hurt, a wound that won't heal,
and he has a strong hate for goblinoids.

A kind priest by the name of Elithorn Asorisun took me in.
I scrubed floors and fetched books, until he thought i was old enough to learn to read and write. He always said: "Keep your nose in the books and you will be a wiser man than most."
I started attending mess, and got facinated with the stories of his Deity Lucinda and legends, and started asking more and more. He always answered by handing med a new book. Read this an you will understand it better.
I began to pray every morning and every night to watch over me, and my parents in heavens.
I became an accolyte in his service and a believer of her faith.

I became friends with a templeguard, Darrich Halden. He was almost always in the courtyard of the temple grounds when I fetched water. He sometimes told me stories of how he had travelled with one of the priests to complete some task and how they had been attacked an fought of monsters.
He taught me to handle a sword after I had followed him around and begged him to teach me.
Elithorn wasn't to fond of it at start but after he talked to Darrich, he seemed to accept it. "The body needs training as well as the mind said Darrich."

It was a good time and Vilanos learned much and grew up to be a man.
Vilanos was asked to come along on many travels both serving the priest and serving as a guard riding beside Darrich.
Wanderlust took hold of Vilanos, and his mentors saw that and told him to go out into the world an use what he have learned, to help others and bring the word of Lucinda to others.

1. I have read the information on Lucinda and I will play a faithful priest of Lucinda to the best of my abilities.

2. Vilanos carries his faith and himself with pride, living on the blue weave path, and seeks more knowledge of magic and the gods, spreads the word of his faith and willing shares his knowledge to thoose found worthy. Vilanos hopes one day to be able to create magical items as tokens to prove his faith to his Deity.
He seeks to help the poor and lost, and to assist in the fight of evil, where ever it may show its ugly face. He is guide by his faith and personal believes.

3. Vilanos wears templerobes around the temple and in civil city areas, usually wearing a staff for walking and honoring his god.
He puts on armor and sword when traveling the roads and wilderness, where danger might lurk,
Always carrying a symbol of his god with him.

ps: I am new to Layonara, but have played D&D, AD&D and NWN online a lot.

Default RE: New character - Vilanos Listorian

This looks good just one question that needs clarification.
You put his age at 72, taking into account take half-elves live to an average of 180 years and usually start adventuring around 21. This means that your character does start his adventure very late in life. Also taking into account that your parents died when you were 9 years old means you spent at least 63 years with Elithorn and Darrich which I both assume are humans.
This all just mean that the age does not really add up. Please review that or explain the situation.
Thanks
