| Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. | Myrena Blackblood NAME: Myrena Blackblood
CLASS: Cleric
DEITY: Corath
RACE: Human
AL: Chaotic Neutral
*Chaotic Neutral is a difficult alignment to play for anyone, but I will make it work. It is not preferred alignment to play, but a necessary "evil" at this point. I think with Myrena's mentality out of the gate, it can be quite appropriate.
HAIR: Black
EYES: Black
HISTORY AS TOLD BY MYRENA
Who are they to question me? Why is it they feel they are the only ones with the only true answers to Layonara? Why do they deny the very feelings and instincts that drive them?
I can tell you why...
Fear.
They do not want you to know what I know. They do not want you to feel what I feel. They will never understand the oneness that a cleric of The Black Sun has with one's self and one's deity. Though I am one of Corath's chosen clergy, I do his "special" work. Whenever there is discord to be sewn, I sow it. Whenever there is a threat to the Corathite faith, I end it. Whenever mysteries need to be discovered, I unravel them. Whenever there is war to be had, I draw the first blood. Whenever there are infiltrators needed, I fill the role. Do not get me wrong, I do not kill for joy or torture for kicks like some of my comrades. No, I simply do what must be done. To defeat my enemies, I must understand them, empathize with them, become them--as long as I never loose sight of Corath...
You see, I am not just one of the Mad God's chosen, I am one of his Disciples. We do not sit in dark temples waiting for the next sinister plot to spin, we go out into all realms of Layonara and make them happen. To wear a hood and skulk around the shadows is a role to be filled like any other in any faith, but there are clergy who are sent to accomplish real tasks without being cast as the "evil cleric" at first glance. Enter me...
One could say that my childhood was blaise. To be born and raised in Arabel can have its dangers and shortcomings, but like most children there, I found a way to make to survive its pitfalls. My true father is unknown to me and my mother was a simple to some of the wealthiest of merchants. Growing up on the streets of Arabel taught me much of life and hardship.
At the ripe age of 8 years of age, my mother explained that I was no longer going to be living with her. She made it clear that it was for the best. "The best", as she put it, was my being sold to the nearby Temple of Corath. I was certain they were going to use me as a as they did my mother, but much to my surprise they had other plans for my fate.
Brought before High Priest Himlark was an intimidating affair having never really been in the presence of greatness before. He explained to me that I was to serve him as his personal acolyte and that I would eventually be brought into the Clergy of Corath. As the years passed, I saw that my training was a bit different than my peers. Though I was educated in religion and politics, I was also trained in the arts of war, assassination, insurrection and infiltration. When I asked why my training was different than the other acolytes, he answered simply, "Because you serve in the discipline of Corath, not just the faith..." I never really understood his answer until many years later.
At the ripe age of 18 years old, I have now been released from my training and set about on my first objectives. My mother died years back, but my concern for her well-being was lost the moment she sold me.
I now find myself in Hlint with my tasking. I find myself anxious to prove myself to Corath's chosen leaders in my duties. They will soon see that I was trained well and a natural for this kind of work...
The blood of my enemies will only sate my thirst when I use their bodies to serve your cause.
___________________________
1. I have read and understood the information available on Corath and I will do my best to RP a cleric of Corath.
2. Myrena believes that all the aspects of Corath are simply the raw, uninhibited themes of life, only seen as "evil" by others because they deny the temptation to give in to their base emotions and thoughts. Deception, lies, hatred and lust come naturally to all beings with murder and the spilling of blood being activities that are simply part of the progression of life. Death, in all forms, is to be embraced because it too is "natural". Undeath is simply a manifestation of unresolved death. Myrena does not actively attempt to perform these acts, she just simply lets them occur instead of reigning them in.
3. Myrena wears black, not only because it is the chosen of Corath and she likes the color, but because it has fucntionality beyond its look (camoflauge, concealing of bloodstains, etc). Not every situation calls for it, such is the infiltration of a "light" aligned group of enemies or camoflauge in the snow, etc. As for the use of the shortsword, Myrena does see it as an elegantly simple weapon, but not practical in all circumstances. She much prefers to use magic and her bare hands because weaponry is not always available in her line of work.

| RE: Myrena Blackblood I saw your other thread where you identified yourself as an old Layo player. This means that you fulfill the time requirement to have a CN character approved but you would also need a level 10 character. Did your old character ever reach level 10?

| RE: Myrena Blackblood To be honest, I don't think either one of my old characters reached 10th. However, both of my old characters were Chaotic Neutral. Hopefully that means I "grandfathered" in before this rule was put into use. Myrena is really just a remake of one the old characters for fear that you guys will not be able to retrieve them. | | |

| RE: Myrena Blackblood I found the character that I had approved last time around. If you can bring her back, great. If you can't, I would respectfully request that you extend a "grandfather clause" to this character. Here is the link to my old character: http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums...osts=4&start=1

| Re: Myrena Blackblood We are not able to retrieve your old characters and as such we will need you to start fresh. Unfortunately, that means that you still fall under the CN alignment restriction. | | |

| Re: Myrena Blackblood The fact that I provided a link to my old character being 'approved' with a CN alignment before this rule was instituted means nothing? I can't just start that character over at 1st level? It would suck, but its better than nothing. | | |

| Re: Myrena Blackblood Ebonith, I did not read through all of this and was answering questions in the GM forum about the character. I did not realize that you had previously been approved (and provided the link above). I took a look at that character.
As such, you will be approved for CN as you were before.
Sorry to Regnus for stating no in the GM forum, I didn't read this thread, nor see the link.

| RE: Myrena Blackblood UPDATED BIO AS PER PrC SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
______________________________________________
Hlint. What a quaint little piece of society I have found myself in for the recent months. I have ingratiated myself among the denizens there and have surrounded myself with a few allies to boot. Drow and goblins not being my first choice in powerful minions, but exactly how picky can I be? It seems divination magics are rampant among the clergy in this region. Without regard to manners or decor, they cast their divination magics to discover that I am not a "nice" gal. So be it. Many seem to suspect I am a Corathite because of such magics, but are simply too scared, mad or confused to do anything about it. I suppose if I continue to keep a low profile, I will simply become part of the scenery...
Regardless of that state of affairs, I am ready to begin the next step in my service to the Mad God. I have never been cut out for a simple 'lady of the cloth' to meander about a temple. I have been trained as an agent my entire life and now I am ready to receive training in the secret ways of the Hands of Death. I have heard rumor that other religions call these servants Sacred Fists. It is time to seek out those Corathites who can ordain me as Hands of Death. It will be a simple matter to get my robes, sacrificial dagger and mask of death ready for this ritualistic transformation. The trek to the Forsaken Temple will be treacherous, so I of course, shall surround myself with allies, appealing to them through gold and divine magics. I will not fail...

| Re: Myrena Blackblood So... about these Hands of Death, where did you get that? Write me something that fits into the current Corath Church structure that is in the Handbook and we'll see if they fit in and will be implemented so you can join them. Until that time however, you won't be joining it because at the moment, they do not exist (but I can retrospectively implement them).
How's that? | | |
