Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Glitzer Glowsong :character submission

Name: Glitzer Glowsong
Age: 20
Race: Halfling
Class: Bard
Alignment: NG
Deity: Prunilla

Bio:

Glitzer lived in a small halfling villiage until fate decided it was time for him to move on.

*Six months ago*

"Glitzer, you sing and tell stories sunup till sundown, cant you shut your trap for even a moment?" asked the short but stocky halfling. "Cmon Valin, not everyone here has heard the story yet."replied Glitzer. Thunder boomed outside and the droning sound of rain permeated the room. The inn was crowded, warm and well lit. "Yes, but Ive heard it at least six times in the last week.Go ahead I got work to do anyway." Glitzer paused a moment in mid story.'Valin isnt as much fun since he bought the Inn.'he thought to himself. He continued his story to the crowd."Well, when the orc realized that Arthezius wasnt asleep,he obviously panicked, knowing that the Paladin was too much for him in a fair fi..." he stopped in mid sentence as an armorclad, travel worn human stopped in the doorway, soaking wet from rain. The entire room turned to look at the new comer who threw off his cloak. "And the orc knew as I did that orcs should always bathe before sneaking into a persons house to kill him. I smelled him from a mile away." "ARTH!!" cried Glitzer, yelling the Paladins nickname and overjoyed that his friend had returned from his long travels. The Inn shortly turned into a small party at the return of the towns only human inhabitant.Townfolk talked with Arthezius about his commings and goings and all of the adventures he had undertook.
A few hours later, the Inn cleared out and only Valin,Arthezius and Glitzer remained, sitting at a table discussing many things. "Glitzer here has been a storytelling fool every since your friend, what was his name, that bard that rambled on with his tales."said valin in a jesting tone. Arthezius smiled at Glitzer. "You got bit by the bard bug it seems.Ive seen it happen before. Anytime a bard, his name is Haveran by the way, spends too much time in one place, it never fails that at least one person in his audience will follow his career choice.I think youd make a great bard."Glitzer grinned broadly."Haveran taught me a lot about the life of a Bard. I can fancy myself doin that." They continued their discussion tell early hours in the morning.
Three weeks had passed since Arthezius' return and the Paladin had once again left to rid the world of evil. Two days had come and gone since the Paladins departure and the village was back to buisness as usual when out of the North a small band of Orcs attacked without warning The townfolk fought bravely, but were overpowered and slaughtered like cattle. The Orcs were looking for a holy warrior that had killed the son of their chieftan and tracked him back to the villiage. Noone would say where he was at, and were systematically killed.Three orcs entered the Inn where Valin and Glitzer awaited there deaths, Valin with a short sword and Glitzer with a staff."Ho! Wut we hab here?"Said one of the orcs. "Brekfust me thinkin" said the second orc.The third orc said nothing and stared at the two halflings. "This is it Glitzer. You are a good lad.Lets face this with pride." said valin solemnly. He looked over and saw something strange in his friend. There was a low hum and a melody that he couldnt quite hear, but feel coming from the talkative youth. Then out of nowhere a bright blinding light and haunting melody escaped from Glitzer.. An aura of warm light spread out from his being and filled the room. As quickly as the power from Glitzer had arrived it departed. The light level in the room returned to normal and the two halflings stood there for a moment, watching the three would be butchers fleeing for their lived out the door. "Glitzer! What in the name of....how did you...how in the name of the hells did you do that?!" Glitzer looked at his friend and tried to mumer something but no words escaped his lips. He had the look fo someone who had just discovered the meaning of life and was trying to digest it. "No matter. We better sneak out the back. I know a path through the woods that should get us to safety."Out the back door and into woods the companions went, avoiding the slaughter that ensued within their quaint little villiage."

((Glitzer is a neutral good Bard. The powers that be decided that when his bard abilities came into being, his price was his voice. He can only speak when casting a bard spell. I usually shy away from mute characters, but decided to embrace the irony of a bard without voice.Hope I didnt miss anything.))
