Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Terand Morgreth

Name: Terand Morgreth
Age: 19
Class: Bard
Race: Human
Alignment: TN
Deity: Branderback

Description:
Terand is a slim young man with red hair and green eyes. He stands about 6'1" and has a thin finely kept goatee. His most noticable feature is his coy smile which tends to appear whenever he causes trouble. His hair is his most cherished feature which he takes personal pride in. His laugh many say is infectious and people who know him say that they can find themselves soon laughing too even if they don't really know what is so funny. If someone were to watch him closely they would notice that his eyes would betray his mischievous nature. He usually wears simple clothes, he dislikes fancy and flowery clothing and finds them itchy and restrictive. He has no visible scars or marks except for a diamond shaped birth mark on his neck which is normally obscured by his hair.He doesn't really have any strong inclinations to do good or evil, but is more out for his own good. He worships Branderback in the sense that he likes the ideas the diety stands for Unfortunately his religious tendancies end there as he has probably never stopped for a moment in prayer in his life and he wouldn't know what a temple looked like had he not been forced to take sanctuary on various occassions from certain overly angry individuals.

Bio:
Terand is the son of a poor farming family, living in a small village on the continent of Mistone. Much of his young life was spent taking care of the daily routines of farm life, milking cows, planting crops, etc. It was a hard life but he was happy. It was not until he was 10 that Terand was first exposed to live music. One evening while on a chore for his parents he was attracted to the local pub by the sounds of music and while looking in through the window he saw the most wonderful sight. A man singing and playing an instrument he had never seen before. The patrons of the bar were completely enraptured by this man as where the lovely bar maids which Terand took personal note of as well. Terand saw that night his calling. It was an opportunity for money, ladies, freedom to do as he pleased, and even more importantly money. It was then that he sat off to become a bard. Over the next few years he constructed a primitive lute, modeled after the instrument he saw that night in the bar. Made out of fire wood and fishing line, it wasn't much but it served his early purposes. He began praticing in secret, for his parents frowned on such inpractical dreams, until his skill outgrew his little handmade instrument. Using the natural talent he had as a singer he impressed the locals who frequented the local pub on nights when his parents would send him to town to get food or other items. Saving the money that was given to him for his services he saved up nearly enough to buy a real instrument. A passing minstril one night heard the young Terand, who by this time was going on 17, and out of kindness contributed to the young man's cause his own lute after seeing in the young man much talent. Meanwhile back at home things had not been going so well. Terand's parents, who had found out about his secret life some years earlier, had been making life miserable for the lad ever since. His work was doubled during the day and he was usually kept home and not allowed to go to town ay night. This did not stop the ambitious, young bard to be however because he continued to improve his skills, his pocket and his relationship with a few of the lovely lasses of the town(An action that would eventually cause much trouble for him). He found that he had a natural talent for magic much to the surprise of passing wizards and magicians who marveled how anyone could squander their magically ability impressing young girls and causing more than a little trouble for the law enforcement. Eventually his trouble making got him in hot water with the local authorities and he was forced to take an extended vacation from his little village home. More specifically he had made a pass at probably every pretty lassie within the village and in the process had garnered the disfavor of some of the more influential citizens who's daughter had fallen under his charm and been hurt when he had moved on to other girls who had caught his eye. So with no home to return to and only the clothes on his back, the lute in his hands, and the rusty family sword he had taken from above the mantle before he was chased from his house Terand decided it was time at the age of 19 to set off and start his new industrious career that would lead him to his ultimate goal of money in his pocket and lovely women at his side.

((Also I woudl like to be considered for the alignment of CN. I realise that it is restricted at the moment but I feel it will fit my character better than the alignment of TN as he is more of a free spirit who is constantly looking for the personal benifit of the situations he is in. If this is done through seperate character development quests just ignore this comment for now and I will deal with all that when the time comes.))

Sorry but the CN rule stands. If you want to move him to CN then you will have to request that later. However, you MUST play the TN alignment until a change is approved.

My only problem (and a very minor one) with this bio is the magic part. Bards are like sorcerors in that their magic is more an innate ability than a learned one. Edit the bio to reflect that and this character will be approved.

Alright, no problem. I made the change you asked for. It should read "He found that he had a natural talent for magic much to the surprise of passing wizards and magicians who marveled how anyone could squander their magically ability impressing young girls and causing more than a little trouble for the law enforcement."
