Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Default Axzair

Full Name: Axzair
Age: around 20
Class(es): Fighter
Race: HalfOrc
Subrace: HalfGiant
Alignment: True Neutral

Darminae Pallan was a retired adventurer, and he had decided to live out his remaining years relaxing in a hut in the Greypeak Mountains. One day he was sitting on an armchair puffing on his pipe, when his plans of peacefulness and relaxation were shattered. A scruffy young but extremely large boy literally ran through the door and fell on the floor on his front, revealing several whip marks on his back. The old Elf was shocked and bewildered, wondering how he had got here. Then those thoughts passed, and he quickly cast a healing spell on the boy, then fetched him some tea.

When the young boy had recovered, he attempted to tell Darminae who he was, and explain what had happened to him. It was hard for them to understand each other, Darminae was very well-spoken and the boy spoke only the simplest phrases. However, after a few hours of conversing, Darminae had learned he was in fact a Half-Giant by the name of Axzair. He had been a slave to a group of Orcs, and had escaped them.

Darminae decided it was best to let Axzair stay with him in his hut. Despite enjoying his retirement, collecting firewood and mining coal and such other physical chores were something his old age prevented him from doing. Axzair, however, was very adept at these things, and proved a great help to the old Elf.

Over time, their relationship grew, and Darminae became like a father to Axzair. Darminae read history books and told stories to him, and even though he did not understand a lot of them, Axzair enjoyed every second of it. Although his true age was unknown, he had definitely reached adulthood, at the height of nine foot.

Both of them were really enjoying life. But, sadly, this happiness would not last. A group of Gnolls were passing through the area, and in their desperation for food, they attacked Darminae’s hut while Axzair was out chopping wood. They held him captive, torturing him into giving up his riches from his adventuring days. However, Axzair returned. Seeing Darminae in danger, he suddenly became angered, and charged at the Gnolls. He fought them all, with his huge size and strength, even their large numbers could not hold. He hacked his way through them to the leader, and literally ripped his limbs off. The other Gnolls fled in terror, leaving Darminae on the floor. Axzair was so happy that he was not dead; he ran up to him and hugged him as hard as he could. He did not hear the crack of bone. He put the Elf down, and he fell limp. Axzair picked him off the floor and stood him up right, and yet he still fell limp. Axzair had finally realized that he had crushed him to death.

The Half-Giant fled the scene, saddened horribly. He cursed himself over and over again, but only made himself sadder. He lay on a grassy mound, and thought back to the stories Darminae had told him. He thought of the adventurers who had experienced loss, and of how they had coped with it. Surely Darminae would not have wanted him to give up hope, after all this. Axzair decided to remember Darminae as the kindred old Elf who had taken him in and read him stories, and not as the dead corpse he had left in the mountains. Tales of adventurers had always interested him, and surely now he was fully grown he could tackle the world by himself. Axzair stood up, and walked down the mountains, ready to face the world.
