| Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. | Character Submission - Silverhand Full Name: Silverhand
Agre: 19
Class: Monk
Race: Human - Planetouched
Subrace: Aasimar
Alignment: Lawful Good
Diety: Toran, the Great Leader
Description: Silverhand stands 6' 1", 210lbs. Thick, muscular, with his silvery blonde hair cleanly shaven or in stubble. Knife scars riddle his body and a single blue-silver-gold ankh of the church tattooed on his chest.
19 years ago, a raid swept down from the Grey Peak mountains. A mix of men, ogre's, and other humanoids came of the north to meet Fort Llast in an attempt to overthrow the order in the region. The battle was gruesome but in the end, it was pushed back like the many others before it. In the middle of the raid, several women and children were taken. They were to be taken as slaves and food, but for one young woman she was raped by one of the men. Left for dead on the edges of Broken Swamp, she managed to escape and crawl until the aid of a travelling band found her and returned her to For Llast. 9 months later, she died giving birth to a baby boy in the protective arms of the Church of Toran.
This unlucky baby grew up in the loving, watchful care of the Church of Toran. He was given the name Torant S'rael after the church and his mother respectively. Growing from childhood, he began to realize his differences. It was not that he was taller, bigger or anything such but maybe the lighter features and the blonde almost silver hair. Always feeling that restless pull to travel, the church's clergy held him tight against the sense of restless he could never understand. Maybe it was that her mother had the Aasimar blood in her as few whispered. His silver hair always brought the unwelcome stares and awkward comments that we're never understood but always present.
In the constant training of the clergy, the paladins and the monks, he began to develop in his adulthood into a good fighter. And in time, the ribbing for his silver hair so turned to a respect for the hands, and shortly thereafter SilverHand he came to be called.
Being the bastard child of a raider, parentless, physically different and with an urge to travel, one night he did. He managed to escape the confines of his clerical teachers and got out into and around town. Unfortunately, it was not long until he was made sport of by jealous local ruffians for his differences. Beaten and knifed badly by the local theives and left to die, in his return to conciousness, his mind was oddly clear as he looked into the moonlit sky to see the one star... the brightest star, shining down like a beacon upon him. Toran's star. In that moment, he felt his life sway as though remembering some touch by a force unknown to him. He new in that moment his mother, the good woman in town, a silver-haired women, usually on the travel, was as much Aasimar as he was. The holy blood lived in his veins as well.
He continued serving the church in that moment, but as a devout member of Toran's clergy. His training became more serious as he developed. He would never turn to the evil lawlessness of the theivery that nearly killed him. He would not touch the blade as that reminded him of the ruffians had taken slowly slicing him up that night long ago. While many Toran follower love the flashing display of armor and weaponry, Silverhand would learn to rely on his hands... for a true hand of god will smite those deserving equal than some weapon of man made construction. Just as with the hand, no armor but the simple functional robes of a pious monk.
His formal training with the church continued and he grew up in the constant dedication to passing monks and their training. He grew in skill as his plans to leave when he was of age. He is dedicated to lawful goodness and his word is his bond. He will bring order and law to the land. With the skills of a simple monk, he will test the mettle of his body and his mind as his journey outside Fort Llast continues.
I have read and understood the information available on Toram. I will do my best to RP a monk dedicated to honor, truth, and viligence. Silverhand will be righteous good bringing saftey to the land and justice to evil with the strength of mind and body.
I have read all there is to know of the Aasimar and truly wish to RP one to best of my ability. Thank you. | | |
