Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default New Character Submission - Storin Stoneshield

Full Name: Storin Stoneshield
Age: 45
Class(es): Fighter / Cleric of Vorax
Race: Dwarf
Subrace: Shield Dwarf
Alignment: Lawful Good
Deity: Vorax
Domains (if cleric): War / Protection
Biography:
Storin grew up amongst a gathering of several of his clannsmen in the Grayspeak mountains near the outpost of Lar. Storin's father Belak was a miner and warrior of some small renown. Although massive for a dwarf (4'7" 230 lbs), he was known for shrewd grasp of tactics, and he often outsmarted his enemies and led them away from others or into carefully laid traps. On one such occasion, a cave-in forced his mining party into a two sided confrontation between a large party of orcs and a group of hill giants. The dwarves fought a pitched battle with the orcs in the tunnels as the giants surrounded the mouth of the cave entrance. Belak bolted from the cover of the tunnels and ran through the giant lines, hurling insults and swiping at the monsters legs with his axe as went. With the giant's attention taken with the crazed dwarf kneecapping them, the dwarves broke from the caves and ran towards the mountain pass and the road home. As the orcs began to pour out of the caves after his clannsmen, Belak charged them. He collided with the orc lines the same time as the thrown boulders of the giants. The orcs broke and ran and Belak slipped down the mountain pass. Little did he know that the giants saw his exit and just as he cleared the narrow pass and waved to his comrages, a huge boulder crushed him.

Storin was then raised by his mother, a hearth guard and disciple of Vorax. She taught him the way of the axe and the teachings of the War God. With the memory of his father's death never far from his thoughts, he took to the training like a fish to water. His battle skills increased, but so did his hatred of the beings responsible for his father's death. When his mother was killed during a raid, Storin's rage boiled over and he went out to the wild to hunt the orcs to extinction or die trying. He won several small battles, but it was only a matter of time before he found himself badly wounded and surrounded by enemies. As his death closed in, a calm came over Storin, and he began to pray. Moments later dwarves wearing the silver and red cut a swath through the orcs. As the last orc fell, his world faded to black.

Storin awoke in a strange bed to the sounds of a hammer ringing against steel. He made his way towards the sound and found a tall muscular dwarf in breeches and a leather apron hammering and folding the metal of a blade. The smith looked much like his father. "Come here lad," said the dwarf. "Ye've found yer rage, and that is good, but if yer to be better than those ye hunt, ye need balance to yer soul." From that point on, Storin studied both the battlefield with the clerics of Vorax and the forge with his uncle. He found joy in helping to create the arms and armor his people took to battle. Seeking to improve his skills, Storin made his way to Hlint...

Description:
Storin stands tall like his father Belak at 4'6" and over 220 lbs. His face and body already carry the scars of battle, and his blue/black hair is already showing signs of gray. His eves are a slate gray, and his skin a weathered tan.

-I hope that this posting is ok for a bio, but there are a couple of things I was wondering about. In addition to my natural common and dwarven ears, could Storin get an orc ear from the rudimentary parts of their language that he has picked up over the years?

Also, I am planning on playing Storin as fighter first and moving into the cleric of Vorax class as his faith grows. I have read the dogma of Vorax, and believe that I will be able to accurately portray not only Storin's beliefs, but also his struggle to remain honorable while dealing with his hated enemies the orcs.

Default Re: New Character Submission - Storin Stoneshield

Sadly I see this request has been here for 60 hours, something that I do not find acceptable. I am very sorry for the delay.

Although you usually need to specifically list out the cleric rules (1,2,3) I am going to approve this since you stated you read and understand them...and you have been waiting for 60 hours.
