| New Character - Grinnash Skullkicker Grinnash Skullkicker
Class: Rogue 4 Wizard 16
Alignment: Neutral
Age: 19
Grinnash Skull kicker was born deep in the underdark, his entire tribe enslaved by Drow and frequently traded to the vile Illithids as a common stock food source. Grinnash spent much of his youth naked and hungry, like nearly all Goblin children. He knew his social status was somewhere between dirt and mud, but refused to simply curl up and die. In fact, that was the last thing on his mind. Having survived childhood, a great acomplishment for many Goblinkin, Grinnash had proven himself unusually crafty and well suited to survive. Although, he was not yet allowed to be named, as many tribal powers recognized his intelligence and began attempts to squash the young upstart.
Grinnash's tribe dealt with the Drow constantly, and their politics and language were regularly used and evident in the Goblin community. In fact, Drow became almost as regularly spoken as Goblin, often a sign of vain intelligence on behalf of many of the tribal leaders. Many of these same Goblin's aspired to become trusted Drow servants, or so they believed, to avoid the alternate fate of being sold off for food.
However, Grinnash had other plans. He looked beyond the immediate enslavement as a servant to the Drow and formed plans of his own while he was still a small child. Ever the cunning manipulator, Grinnash learned many tricks to balance the forces about him and weave sticky webs to snare himself another day of life, and possibly some clothes. Ultimately, he realized that keeping a promise for the sake of the word was foolish, but acting rashly was no less of a sentence to death. The middle road was his playground, and proved far more hospitable.
As the small tangled webs that Grinnash weaved grew larger, he developed a near constant grin. He was also noted for kicking various objects, particularly skulls, whenever he felt frustration. Finally, he was given a name, Grinnash, and recognized by the other Goblins in the tribe as a crafty and fit individual. Most importantly, Grinnash could finally clothe himself, however poorly that might be.
Ever had Grinnash slinked amongst the shadows, developing a decent ability in remaining unseen, but the life of a rogue felt . . . incomplete. Especially after seeing some of the arcane arts that the Drow and a few select Goblin Shamans wielded. Grinnash quickly turned from his path as rogue when he captured a dead Drow's spell book. At first, many of the words were beyond him. But, he refused to give up and intently studied the book, slowly unlocking its secrets, and a hidden note.
Aparently, the Drow encampment had a debt to an Illithid enclave. And if the debt was not repayed, the Illithids promised to take a promised share of all enslaved thralls, as many of the Goblins were called. An ultimatium was set, and date writen.
Grinnash realized, to his great horror, that the day was but a week away.
He grabbed all his portable belongings and set out to the deep depths unseen as the Drow changed their guard to the various cave passages. Grinnash did not know this, but the Drow did not see him because they simply didn't care that a single Goblin was leaving his camp.
Grinnash then traveled a few months, surving on little more than insects and shoe leather. Eventually he found a tiny passage that lead to a great cave that seemed formed from some great underground volcanic activity. Grinnash exited his crawl space slowly, thinking something was amiss.
And then he saw it, the glint of treasure and a great pile of bones. And atop that great pile, a massive dragon, staring back at him angrily. Grinnash did not have the strength to run, having eaten his shoes completely two weeks ago. He turned over the options in his mind and realized in an instant that even if he did have the strength to flee, it would not have mattered. He took a deep breath, the grin leaving his face, and prepared to be gruesomly eaten if he couldn't talk his way out of the situation.
The Dragon became more agitated as Grinnash considered his best choice of words, finally settling on speaking in Drow as the Goblin tongue might seem too crude when his life depended upon it.
"Elder lord, if I may request a postponement to my immenent death and speak with your greatness." he spoke, buying himself sometime.
The Dragon said nothing, allowing her pause to be evidence enough.
"Great lord, who humbles me with such willingness to allow me to speak so poorly in such a magnificent creatures presence." Grinnash said, carefully choosing gender neutral terms, since he knew nothing of Dragons save their vanity and great strength.
Grinnash began to grin again, a plan forming in his mind. "'O magnificent and wrathful Dragon, I come here to beg for service to you."
Again the Dragon said nothing, her pause continued evidence of interest, or lack of appetite.
"I am small and insignificant, a fleck of fungus standing in awe next to the known world. I seek to do those duties deemed unworthy of your attention. I ask for nothing. Only a chance to serve your greatness."
The Dragon raised an eyebrow, finding the clearly spoken Goblin curious, and possibly worthy of memory.
Grinnash groveled low, touching his head to the ground, and grinning wider thinking that his trap had been set. He thought it best to wait for the Dragon's reply before he rose, and remained in his posistion. Then he heard the Dragon moving about, to the back of the den. He remained, unmoving. Hours passed . . . many many hungry hours passed.
Grinnash could barely take it and force of will alone allowed him to remain concious.
Then finally, the Dragon returned and spoke, nearly deafening him. "You may serve me, whelp. For I am too great to clean the dung from the back of my cave, or organize and seal the various small tunnels that surround me. You will do these things."
Grinnash, fought to remain awake and struggled to hear the Dragon's words.
"The back of my cave is covered in refuse. You will clean this, and do so now. Take it from my sight, and touch nothing else. So bids the great Nural'desh'thakal." At that moment the great Nural'desh'thakal cast a mighty spell upon the Goblin, allowing her to see through his eyes and forever binding him to service by a great Gease.
Grinnash bobbed up as quickly as his weak frame would allow him, moving swiftly to the back of the cave, which seemed to stretch for miles. First he explored a bit, seeking a way to dispose of the fecal matter. Only a small underground stream could be found . . and it was in there he slowly, ever so slowly, moved the filth out of the lair. He took care to ensure that the stream would not clog, slowly widening the crack he found. In his activities, Grinnash also ate small undigested bits to survive. the taste and smell were wretching, but, it proved that his life would continue another day.
Grinnash's tasks ever deepend as his strength returned. Eventually, the Dragon had him take on more and more tasks as an information gatherer for the various parties of Drow and other denizens that moved about. Grinnash's natural stealth and aptitude in magic allowed him to move about, and report were the Dragon would find prey and treasure.
Years passed, and Grinnash grew from a small child to a young adult. Over the passing years, the Dragon had become tired of speaking in anything but her preferred language. Slowly, the Dragon used less and less of the common Drow speech, turning to the language of the Deep Dragons. Grinnash knew he had to learn this or die, for when he could no longer understand the Dragon he could no longer serve her.
Ten years passed in servitude to the Dragon, and Grinnash did come to understand enough of the spoken Deep Dragon tongue to save his life.
As the Dragon's desire for knowledge around her grew, so did the distance of Grinnash's travels. Finally, Grinnash was sent to the surface to see what might be had there.
He traveled for over five months to get there, eventually finding a small cave exit into what would become known to him as the Haven mines. His passage began to collapse about him as the Ogres stomped above.
It was then that the Dream Dragon called him . . . He could feel his master looking through his eyes, suspicious of the other Dragon.
And then the Dream Dragon spoke just as Grinnash's master fell into hibernation . . .

| RE: New Character - Grinnash Skullkicker Interesting bio, a few that need fixing. First of all the multiclassing rules in Layonara require a minimum of 5 levels per class. This meaning that the 16/4 split wont be possible. Second of all there is no Nural'desh'thakal in Layonara. As a matter of fact there are only a very few number of Dragons in the whole world that can be counted all in one hand. And the dragon in the underdark is beyond the reach of a level 1 character. Not to mention that the Draconic ear is not one that will be not allowed at character creation. Instead it is one that needs to be roleplayed and learned throughout in-game actions. Finally you need to remember that we're speaking about 1st level characters. Implicitely that means that they are still learning magic and their rogueness, so accomplishing a lot of the feats in this bio would seem rather outlandish. Tone it down a little and remove the references mentioned above and we'll review it further. Thank you.

| Re: New Character - Grinnash Skullkicker Approved. Approved for drow ear. We do not have an undercommon ear and I don't think (don't recall at least) we have a goblin ear but if we do you will get it automatically since you are creating a goblin. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
