Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Default New Character: Telinar

Full Name: Telinar Artimo
Age: 168
Class(es): Ranger
Race: Elf
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Deity: Folian S'pae

Bio/Description:

My entrance to this world was something I dwell on very little.
My mother, Telina Artimo, died giving birth to me. She was on her way home with a caravan with little help medically. The last words I remember her saying were "It's OK", well those are actually the only words I ever remember her saying. Even though it was extremely early in my life the scene replays in my dreams more often than not. Those word however do give my life meaning in a strange optimistic way I suppose. I like to think she meant that she was ok knowing that she was passing from the world, for the sake of my entering it healthy.

Ever since that caravan returned to my home I was raised by my father a lowly druid his name was Alagora. Though I didn't follow in his way of the druid, he did enstill in me a love for life, and a love of nature. He constantly took me for long adventured through the thick of the woods teaching me of life and nature, and letting me know that it was something not to be undermined, and more powerful than most knew. My father used to always spar with me out in the fields, we used woodern swords mainly, but he used to always comment on how strong I was and said that I would grow up to be a great warrior. As a boy of course I dwelled on those conversations and always thought that would happen. Even then I bested him more than not in the way of the sword. In a way I guess I did become somewhat of a warrior after I met a great swordsman by the name of Lunalith in the forrest just after he witness my slaing of a goblin. He said I had great technique for a youngster, for at that time I was prolly only about 60 years of age. He took me underhis wing, without my fathers knowing of course, and gave me training in the sword and bow that my father was uncapable of. I enjoyed the times I had with Lunalith but thought I was capable of being more than just a fighter.

I later decided I would make a compromise, and respect the ways of nature, as well as stick to my strenghts in the way of the sword and bow, and train in the ways of the ranger. I learned a lot from my father since he had many a friend who were knowledgeable in the ways of the ranger, and I learned some from books, and even a litte from some of the previous mentioned friends of my fathers.

Over the next few years I was nearly never home with my father other than to sleep. By morning I was off hiking thru the woods, sneaking up on adventures as close as I could without letting them notice my presence just to practice moving silently and hiding in what shadows existed while the sun was up. At night I would light a fire and enjoy the serenity of being there myself while I would meditate and listen to the sounds of rabbit and squirrel nearby. And when it was called upon I would exterminate the wood of unwanted goblins if their numbers weren't too great.

Enough of my past though, for I think the future will be much more eventful. 'Twas not even but a year or so ago that I left my father for what I fear may be forever, in hopes of starting a life of my own among more youthful adventurers and at the same time, remembering my mothers words and my interpretation of them, setting out to become something my mother would deem great, so that my birth would not be in vein. Recently I ran into a strange dragon, who seems to think that I can help rid the world of one called Bloodstone. Call me stupid but I think I am going to help him in anyway I can.

Just a few things. 68 is awfully young for an elf. Elves usually don't become adults until about 110 or so (pg 21 of the campaign book). Secondly, the role of Telinar's father as great druid should be downplayed a little bit. It almost speaks of a noble (at least in the druid community) heritage, which isn't allowed. Finally, Sinthar Bloodstone is most definately not a dragon, and would probably not appreciate it one bit if you told him this.

Change these things, and give me one or two more small paragraphs, perhaps expanding on early life with father (I find that intriguing), life on the road etc. and I will approve this.

One thing I want to point out is that whenever you edit a post make sure you bump the thread (by posting in it). We do not see the updates usually unless a thread is bumped. This will probably save you frustration in the future.

Have fun.
