Alignment: Lawful Good
Deity: Rofirein

Bio:
The priest bent down and examined the form of the drow, astounded that she should be on the steps of his temple. How in the name of the Lord Protector did she get here? That question leapt from his mind as he noticed that she had a babe concealed in her robes. Gently cradling the babe in his arms he mounted the steps to the temple, calling out as he went.
“Guardian Kirath, I have a babe in hand. Pick up that woman and be sure she is taken care of.”
The guard could not believe it when he approached and saw a drow lying in her own blood. He looked up to confirm the words of the priest, but in that short time the priest had disappeared into the temple. With a sigh, he bent down to examine the drow more closely. At first he thought she was dead, then he detected a slight hint of life. He cursed under his breath, immediately expecting some sort of trap. In that moment he decided to take the dirty drow out into the forest and leave her to her own kind, which he was suddenly sure were around somewhere.
A short time later Cael Kirath was pushing the drow off his horse, dropping her on the ground. With a grimace he looked about, into the trees and under the bushes, seeing nothing he slowly bent and wiped her blood from his hands. The drow was now almost gray due to blood loss, her breath was coming in gasps. He mounted his horse, giving one last irritated shake of his head as he turned away. Her ragged breathing could easily be heard over the sound of his horse making its way through the forest. She gave an especially loud gasp and Kirath urged his horse into a gallop unmindful of how dangerous it was to gallop in the forest, only knowing he did not want to hear her final breath.
The temple had decided to keep the young drow and attempted to teach him the ways of The All-Seeing, but his vile blood seemed to rebel at every turn. That is the reason Cael avoided him, he told himself. Surely it was not because he saw the features of the mother reflected in her son, and could sometimes hear her ragged breathing when the child was winded from running away from some trouble he had stirred up. In the end, the sight of the youth was enough to send Cael fleeing from his own conscience.
As time went on Cael withdrew more and more, it seemed that if he ventured into the temple grounds he ran into the young drow. By the time he met Aryanna Cael was practically a hermit. Aryanna was a beautiful young cleric thoroughly dedicated to Rofirein. Aryanna had such a positive effect on Cael, that no one cared much that she was human and he was elven. He became his old self again, revived and refreshed. They were seen everywhere together, and their love was known to be pure. Cael delighted in his wife, and she delighted in him.
Cael was greeted by his wife early one morning with glad news. Rofirein was going to bless them with a child. Cael noticed the glow in his wife’s face, he also noticed the lines around her eyes and the fact of her age hit him for the first time. The healers expressed some concern over a woman her age giving birth, but they all trusted in Rofirein.
The pregnancy went fine. The birth, however, was another story. It was almost as if Aryanna was feeding her life directly into her son. Finally he was born into the world, screaming loudly. The baby paused between screams and Aryanna took in one last shuddering breath, and then breathed no more. Cael was oblivious to the cleric that pushed past him to get to Aryanna. He did not even hear the cries of his own son. His mind kept playing the sound of that terrible breath over and over. It matched the sound of the drow exactly, the two sounds melded and became one, echoing in his mind.
The cleric turned mournfully to Cael and shook his head slowly. Aryanna’s spirit had fled, never to return. Cael bowed his head, the last breath still ringing in his ears. He looked at his son, and in his minds eye he saw the defenseless drow babe as he had long ago. The babes had something in common now. It was then that Cael came to believe he was receiving Rofirein’s judgement. In order to atone for abandoning the defenseless maid, even if she was drow, he must trade a life for a life. Her son had grown up without family other than the temple, and now he realized his must as well. Cael decided to go into exile, to find the drow maid if he could. His son, whom he named Aeronn would remain in the temple and be dedicated to Rofirein, to set things right.
And so it was that Aeronn grew up in the Citadel. He took to the teachings of the priests as a duck takes to water. It was clear from an early age he was dedicated body and soul to The All Seeing. Aeronn trained hard to be his best and dedicated all of his efforts to Rofirein. Occasionally he would see the young drow about, but he could not understand the drow’s outlook and frivolity, so he generally avoided him. All Aeronn knew of his father was that he went away on a quest and never returned.
Aeronn was delighted the day that he was told he would be accepted into the order of paladins within the citadel, and his training intensified. While training he showed himself to be an exemplary Rofireinite: true to his word, protector of the weak, a devout and unflinching defender of the church, he performed all of his assigned duties cheerfully and thoroughly. Aeronn’s exemplary record prompted his commander to take him aside one day. The commander explained the nature of the quest that Aeronn’s father had undertaken. He also explained why Aeronn had been raised at the temple.
When he heard the news Aeronn asked to be allowed to leave the temple to seek out the drow, Owen, that had stayed there, to explain what had happened and to make any amends that he could. He pledged that while traveling he would root out evil and bring it to justice wherever he went. Aeronn’s petition was looked upon favorably and he set out from the citadel to find his destiny.
Notes: Aeronn is fairly reserved and always tries to act with dignity and politeness. He will always try to protect those weaker than himself, or those he perceives as weaker. He will seek out evil, and will not back down from a just fight.
I have read the information on Rofirein and will play Aeronn as a devout Paladin of Rofirein to the best of my abilities.
