Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default New character

Name: Fennor Grimbattler
Race: Human
Age: 19
Class: Monk
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Deity: Vorax

Bio

Born in Far Reach to kind and loving parents Fennor had a very good childhood. At an early age he suffered an illness that left him weak and easily tired, because of this some of the other children in town constantly picked on him and made fun of his weakness.

During one such episode he was rescued by a grizzled dwarf that looked half crippled once he chased the children away he picked Fennor up dusted him off and sent him on his way without saying a word. Fennor looked for the dwarf often as he didn’t even know his name but could never find him.

One day about a five years later a goblin band attacked the poorer area of town Fennor hid and watched from a large thicket and to his dismay he saw the dwarf running towards the goblins without a weapon or wearing any visible amour, that’s it he thought I will never know your name but to his surprise the dwarf started striking with his hands and feet mighty blows that felled the goblins whenever they struck with the help of a few townsmen the goblins where either killed or run off during the celebrations later that day Fennor found that it was Kero Grimbattler who had saved him that day and he lived alone in a cottage near by in the forest.

It took Fennor six month’s to get the courage to approach Kero’s cottage when he finally did he hid close by and watched for about an hour as Kero went through a dizzying display of moves then he went home. This happened for several months with Fennor practicing the moves in secret pushing his body more and more. Until one day there was a knock on Fennor's door when he answered it there stood Kero “well boy” he said “time so see what you have learned”, Kero led Fennor to his cottage and put him through a grueling set of exercises “good you have learned well, be back here this time tomorrow”. This was amongst the happiest times in young Fennor's life the techniques where hard but he always pushed himself to go that little bit faster and stronger, eventually with his parents permission he started living with Kero and the training continued for a number of years this included instructions on Kero’s language and beliefs.

Fennor learnt that Kero was a member of a monastic order called the brothers of battle and followed Vorax, Fennor got stronger and Swifter as the years passed while Kero grew weaker and weaker eventually Kero told him that he was dieing and Fennor should go out into the world and make his own way.

Fennor left his home and family and about three months later a message came to him saying that Kero was dead, on that day he claimed his mentors name and vowed to that he would make him proud.
