Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Proposal for first character

Name: Bunar Hogglesteel
Age: 147
Race: Dwarf
Class: Fighter/DD
Align: True Neutral
Diety: Donrand

Physical Appearance:
Bunar is of average height (for a dwarf) standing 4'5" tall. His build is best described as stout. Bunar is almost as wide as he is tall, with broad shoulders and sturdy legs. Bunar's skin is a light brown, with dark brown hair. Bunar has a long beard that he usualy keeps in one braid to the front of his chin. Bunar's eyes are also dark brown. A stern look is always on his face.

Bio/History:
Most of Bunar's life was spent in the mines. Since the first time Bunar was strong enough to pick up a hammer he had a desire to pound stones. Bunar's farther taught him how to mine ores and process them. When he was not mining or at the forge, Bunar practiced fighting with his father. Though Bunar was adept at swinging a hammer, his father thought it best for him to use an axe when training. The first time that he had to use his axe was when he was 20. A band of roaming goblins had found their way into the clans' mines one day. Most of the clan was busy digging out new tunnels in hopes of finding rich ores. Bunar was not yet experienced for new excavations, so he was in the upper chambers mining some iron for use in making spear heads. The three goblins came upon Bunar and he realized he was alone. Bunar now realized why his farther had told him to always keep his axe with him at all times. Before he had time to think, Bunar was covered in blood. Bunar then realized that it was not his blood, but the blood of the three goblins that lay all around him. It was on this day that Bunar developed his hatred of goblins. As the years passed, Bunar continued to learn his crafts of mining and fighting. Bunar had become quite an accomplished miner and blacksmith. Bunar also became rather good at using his axe as well. In Bunar's 60's he joined the clans sweeping team. The sweeping team was sent into the lower mines every so often to rid the less used mines of creatures that may have come to call them home. For the next 30 years Bunar continued to build a name for himself with is axe. Bunar had forged many friendships with some of his sweeper family. Most people thought he was a gruff person, but those who came to call him firend found out this was really just a facade. In his 90's, Bunar went back to work at the forge and continued to make weapons and armor for trade with the local merchants. Life was as it should be for a dwarf. When bunar entered into his 140's, he suddenly had lost some of his love for the anvil. Bunar was not sure what was wrong, but he thought not much of it and kept at work. As more years went by, Bunar had decided that he was wanting to leave the mines and head out to learn more the world outside. Bunar had discussed this with his cousin Nurlmann. It seemed that Nurlmann had been having problems with mine life as well. On Bunar's 147th birthday, he went to see his cousin and found out that Nurlmann had left the clan home. This was all that the already eager Bunar needed to leave and seek out adventure.

Default RE: Proposal for first character

Hi there
Firstly we dont approve PrC at submission, so you will have to keep a development thread and resubmit for the Dwarven Defender at a later stage.
Also the age of 147 seems older than the average starting age of a dwarf, which is in the region of 50. If that is intentional then it is fine knowing that he will be slightly older than the average adventuring dwarf.
You also might want to addthe physical location where has clan home is, as many would ask you where you came from.
And then a small typo, the deity is Dorand not Donrand.
Thanks
