| Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. When you join you'll also be able to communicate privately to other members (PMs), establish and respond to polls, upload and download content and access many other special features. Registration is fast, simple and absolutely free. So please. join our community today!

| First Character - Valoric Shadowaxe Full Name: Valoric Shadowaxe
Age: 46
Class(es): Rogue, hopefully with progressions into Barbarrian and Ranger to show a growing feel of self-responcibilty and accountability to the world, but please understand that I find it difficult to plan Valoric ahead of the experiences and interactions that would mould him.
Race: Dwarf
Subrace: None
Alignment: Chaotic Good.
Deity: No set faith at outset.
Domains (if cleric):
Biography and Description:
Valoric Shadowaxe is a dwarf of dubious beginnings. He was born in obscurity and without a father, to an unsympathetic prostitute. Though not unloved, Valorith's life with his mother was one without cherishable memories, as the two traveled ceaselessly, spending most nights in sheltered alleyways, or barns when they presented themselves, and often resorted to charity and petty theft to survive.
Valoric's mother died before he reached maturity and he was forced to rely on what he knew; he stole, lied, and cheated for his bread and butter. However, no good deed goes unpunished, and Valoric eventualy tried to cheat a group of people who proved to be his betters, the famous Ogre Eaters, a group of travelling mercenaries. Rather than doom Valoric to the stocks, they decided to take him on (rather forcibly!) and instilled in him a little bit of the honest life and the value of brute strength.
Valoric and the Ogre Eaters traveled together for seven years before an ambush of (ironicly) ogres wiped out the group. Valoric happened to survive, vowing to dedicate his life to the destruction of ogres (and all monsterous giants for that matter) and the pursuit of those values championed by the Ogre Eaters; Honesty, Compassion, Valour, and Goodliness.
As a person, Valoric is somewhat short for a dwarf, standing at a mere 3'5'', is somewhat underweight, though not noticably, and his face obscured by coarse, black, hair and beared. His childhood left him lean, and his days with the Ogre Eaters left him well muscled. Valoric (still) has little regard for authority, recognizing only the laws of his consience and personal sense of justice. Though not stupid, he is certainly unrefined, and his rough demener and manner of speech certainly point this fact out. Valoric is motivated by his sense of justice to help out any around him who seem to be in need (whether they wish to be helped or not) and by a somewhat obsessive hatred towards giants, which at times overrides his common sense.

I hope this is acceptable. This is my first attempt, so any direction would be more than appreciated. I read about the rules against min/max, and though I wasn't planning on going to those lengths, I thought I would post my planned attributes anyways. These include the racial bonuses.
