| Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. | Tyrbog Daersyth First Name: Tyrbog
Last Name: Daersyth
Deity: Toran
Alignment: Lawful Good
Age:23
Class(s): Paladin
Race: Halfling
Bio: Son of Damone Daersyth and Hemona Jeronas, Tyrbog's life was as normal as it could have been for any young halfling. That is until the fated night when, playing near the river, his attention was drawn to a couple of fireflies. Having rarely seen those, the child could not resist but follow them. It was the familiar shriek of a woman that woke Tyrbog from the kind of trance he was in. He ran and ran as fast as he could, as he sensed something was very wrong. Upon arriving home, the only thing he saw was a ghoul, the head of his mother in a hand, and his father trying to fight his way out of a mass of undead creatures which Tyrbog could not identify, having never really seen nor heard about other undeads than ghouls from his father, a retired adventurer. Not knowing what to do, he could onnly stand there idly, until he began to run as fast as his little legs could carry him. A few hours later, he fell unconscious, out of energy.
When he woke up, nausea caused him to lose balance and fall from something. When he looked up, he saw a single person on a horse, his armor reflecting the burning rays of the sun into his eyes. Tyrbog had to shield his eyes with his hand. The first thing he caught a glimpse of was a symbol he only saw in books before: an ankh, symbol of Toran. He recognized the man as one who might help him in this dire hour, but it is only when he tried to explain to the man what happened that he realized that he might be the only one left of his family. And he began to cry.
Seeing the innocence and kindness in the little halfling's heart, the man took Tyrbog to a temple of Toran, where he became his new father. Raised in the ways of a follower of Toran, Tyrbog soon became a faithful defender of Toran. Help those in need, do good wherever one goes, banish evil from this land, serve the greater Good. Those became the words by which Tyrbog began to draw his strength from.
Upon reaching maturity, and by then completing his training, Tyrbog set out on a journey to eradicate the evil that lurks in the shadows of his beloved land, and by doing so, finally bring peace to his soul, constantly hearing the screaming of his parents dying at the hands of evil creatures.
P.S. I know that in the description it says that Toran is mostly worshipped by humans, elves, half-elves and dwarves, but where is it written that an halfling can NOT worship him? ;P Plus, his mentor was human.
1. I have read everything there was on Toran about his ideals, morals and dogma, and understand them. Tyrbog will be a loyal worshipper of Toran's values, and I will RP it the best I can.
2. Tyrbog views the dogma of Toran as something that is true and good. He will not hesitate to take perilous paths to achieve what he believes is right, even if it goes as far as bringing a close friend to justice if he commited a crime. The Greater Good prevails above all else. After seeing so many injustice in the world, Tyrbog believes it is his duty, as a follower of Toran, to bring peace and justice to all, and to do so, he must seek out evil wherever it may hide, and vanquish it.
3. Tyrbog fights with heavy armors and a longsword. Even though he was smaller than his comrades in the temple, he did not wish to be left behind because of his size, and decided to fight with Toran's weapon: the longsword, even if it meant he could not use shields as others did. It is while using his blade to smite the dark ones that Tyrbog feels closest to his god. Only in matters of life or death does he use another weapon, as a blunt weapon does not make him comfortable, and he feels he is somewhat betraying himself and Toran by doing so. | | |
