| Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. | New Character Submission:Jaleel Ibn Isran Al Korak Fullname.....Jaleel Ibn Isran al Korak
Age..........21
Class........Fighter
Race.........Human
Subrace......None
Alignment....Neutral Good?
Deity........Rofirein
BIOGRAPHY.....Jaleel was born in a hot land far away from where he now finds himself. As a child he was plucked
from his parents at a young age and taken to the training halls of Grandfather. However, this Grandfather was
no kin to Jaleel nor was he the kindly benevolent man the name maight conjure up.Grandfather is merely a title
passed down through the generations to a man who leads an ancient sect....one dedicated to refining the art
of killing. This sect takes young boys, and sometimes girls, and moulds them into devoted and fanatical killers.
Their goal is to sow confusion and chaos amidst the enemies of the sect,or of those who pay for the service.
Thus from his childhood,Jaleel has trained in the ways of killing, and has been honed to perform his art with
no thought of fear, disobedience or remorse.
And so it came to pass that Jaleel was sent on a mission far away from his brethren....across the seas to a land
unknown. He was to kill some minor noble for the coin it would bring to his sect,as he had done several times before
closer to home.Thsi time, however, the Gods and destiny intervened, for a great storm arose and dashed the ship Jaleel
was travelling on upon some distant shore.
As he began to drift into a sleep of ages many images passed through Jaleel's mind...his parents, the cruel regimen
of training he had endured over the years, the faces of those he had killed for his sect...and his own reflected self.
And so it was that Jaleel died.....
He awoke,in a comfortable bed...the smell of fresh lavender in his nostrils,a cool breeze upon his face, light cascading
through the open window and the song of dawn ringing in his ears. The Gods,it would appear, had saved him.
He wa,it transpired,in the manor of a petty noble....to whom he had been brought after being discovered washed up on the
beach.
As Jaleel slowly recovered his strength and his wits, and got to know his benefactors...their ways and their tongue,he began
to ponder his future.Memories of his past were,at best,hazy....and all he could discern was that whatever path
he had followed it had been the wrong one...and that he must now atone for wrongs he was sure he had commited.
And so it was that Jaleel...the young one time assassin entered the service and tutelage of those who had saved him.
His mentor and trainer was Steward,a quiet and noble man of common background...who noticed Jaleel's natural
ability and affinity with weapons...especially the bladed variety.
Steward became not only his mentor and teacher but a firm friend...and it was through the stories that Steward told of his
times in the service of Rofirein. The more Jaleel learned from Steward, the more he wished to follow his mentor's example and
help the weak and unfortunate.
Fate is a fickle mistress and having found happiness and a new home Jaleel's world was soon turned upsde down....for news of him
had travelled back to his former brethren...who saw his very survival, and failure to carry out his task,as a
betrayal of their beliefs and very being. In their views...justice must be meted out...and thus a small part y was dispatched to
deal with the traitor. How would they know,or even care, that much of what had been Jaleel, their brother, had
been lost when he so nearly died by drowning several years before.
And now.....Jaleel is once again alone in the world...his benefactors and his friend Steward are gone...
slain by former brethren...who,almost to a man died themselves,at the hands of Steward or Jaleel. The Noble's hall lies a charred ruin
and death seems to stalk Jaleel wherever he goes. After burying the pathetic remains of all those slaughtered Jaleel now heads out to seek
a new path...that followed by Steward..a way of inspiration...and one where he can turn his skills to good and helping people.
Jaleel stands about 5'9" in height....slim build, walks with an agile almost cat-like grace.Has dark sunbrowned skin...close cropped dark hair
and tends to wear clothes that favour blacks and browns..or sometimes grey. Most notable feature about his appearance ..are the two sheathed swords
(scimitars)he wears slung across his back. | | |

| RE: New Character Submission:Jaleel Ibn Isran Al Korak Considering that you describe him coming from a hot land and training as an assasin I would suggest that you would make this location Firesteep, vulcanic island north of Dregar which is a home to many sects of the Pyrtechionite faith. I could wery well see Pyrtechionites training assassins in the manner you describe. Read more about this in the handbook. If you decide to go down this path you can let us know by posting in this thread.
That being said the character is [approve]

| RE: New Character Submission:Jaleel Ibn Isran Al Korak Have taken on board your suggestions and will try and develop some thread supporting the Geographical information you laid out.
One minor change to what I had envisioned....currently using shortswords rather than scimitars...using the premise that the latter weapon wouldnbe fairly rare to come by..and thus he would have trained in the former as they would be more readily available. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
