Character Submission Sorus Bear-Claw

Name: Sorus Bear-Claw Race: Human Class:Wizard AL: CN Deity:Lucinda Age: 17 Sorus is one of three siblings. Their mother, the daughter of a ship captain, met a barbarian of the Bear-Claw tribe, and fell in love. They married and she attempted to become a member of the tribe. It was not to be, and shortly after the birth of their third child, she left him and returned to live in Leilon. The eldest child Ragar stayed on Krashin with her father. Tora and the new born babe, Sorus went with their mother.
Sorus parents kept in touch over the years and Sorus and Tora would meet Ragar on trips across to Krashin on their Grandfather's ship every summer, if only for a week or two.
Sorus has always looked up to his older sister and would often follow her on her escapades. Tora knew of his love for reading and would often bring him books she thought would interest him, he never asked where or how they were obtained although he suspected they were from her new friends in the local thieves guild.
<font face="Courier New" size="2" /> One of these books gave Sorus his first introduction to the magical arts when he discovered part of a discourse on cantrips, the description of using them to scare away rats was detailed enough to enable him to mimic its effects. Tora was amazed and delighted to find her brother had such a talent when he used it to defend himself from her in one of their many play fights, when she stopped running away and calmed down that is.
Sanna had always known that Sorus interests followed a different path to his siblings so when she discovered that Loraatris, the local mage and cleric of Lucinda, was without an apprentice she jumped at the opportunity to put Sorus forward to train with him. As well as allowing Sorus to use his thirst for knowledge to make his own way in the world Sanna hoped it would also leave him too busy to get caught up in any trouble with Tora and her friends. <font face="Courier New" size="2"><font face="Courier New" size="2">

Loraatris, Following our conversation several weeks ago I send you my son Sorus as an apprentice please look after him. The funds have been deposited into your account in Leilon, if there is anything else you require please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Dear Toragar,
Sorus seems to be doing well though there was a time after Tora left he moped around a lot as he was missing her terribly, now however he seems to have thrown himself into his work and I have been getting glowing reports from his master Loraatris. I am told he shows an aptitude for magic that he hasn’t seen in an apprentice in along time. Sorus came home with a very realistic bear tattoo on his arm last week, apparently it was a reward from his master for all the hard work he put into preparing for his first major test. I am very proud of him and I hope you will be to. I hope Tora and Ragar are getting on well there and that Tora has started to settle down please tell them to write once in awhile as we do miss them.

It is good that Sorus is working diligently at his chosen profession, while I had trouble accepting his choice at first I have come to terms with having a magic user in the tribe who isn’t a Shaman. Please tell him his sister misses him and can’t wait until his visit later in the year. I hope he is still coming as I am looking forward to seeing him and maybe he can show the tribe some of his magic tricks.

Sorus has exceeded all my expectations, his aptitude for the magical arts brings a smile to my face and pleases me greatly. I am glad he has chosen Lucinda as his patron and it is fitting considering the gifts he has. While his study has been intensive he has never showed any sign of wanting to do anything else, I am well pleased with him and hope that he will always consider me a mentor and a friend.

I bring news. As the weather here on Krashin worsens our children, Tora and Ragar have made the decision to leave the tribe to find the path of adulthood. The Bear Spirit will look after them.

Physical description: Sorus is 6' tall and fairly broad across the shoulders hinting at his ancestry. He has blue eyes and blond hair with a lifelike tattoo of a bear on his right forearm.. His intellect and confidence in his own abilities more than make up for a lack of physical strength.
