Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Character Submissio- Ragar BearClaw

Full Name: Ragar BearClaw
Age: 20
Class(es): Barbarian (5) Cleric (15)
Race: Human
Alignment: CG
Deity: Folian S’pae
Domains: Animal, Good

Ragar is one of three siblings. Their mother, the daughter of a ship
Captain met a barbarian of the Bear-Claw tribe, and fell in love. They
married and she attempted to become a member of the tribe. It was not to be, and shortly after the birth of their third child, she left him and returned to live in Leilon. The eldest child Ragar stayed on Krashin with his father, Tora and the new born babe, Sorus went with their mother.

Tora's parents kept in touch over the years and Tora and Sorus would
meet Ragar on trips across to Krashin on their Grandfather's ship
every summer if only for a week or two.

Ragar awoke with a start and sat up quickly. His head pounded and the bitter, coppery aftertaste of the Dreambrew filled his mouth.
“You are awake, Ragnar of the Bear-Claw tribe.” The tribes’ shaman sat close to the fire trying to keep his old bones warm, “Tell me, where did the Bear Spirit take you on your journey, what sights did you see?”
Ragnar drew close to the fire and stared at the dancing flames for a short while before speaking.
“I sees a great sun burning above a rich land filled with trees. The trees was filled with fruits of many colours and there was many deer there for good hunting. Then the skies grew darks, and a great snow fell on the land and the trees withered so theres was no fruts any more, and the deer grew sick and died and alls that was left alives was a great bear, old and silver haired, and it’s three cubs. And a river of blood flowed down from the mountains and spread across the land, and the blood becames an army of tigers, red, with eyes of fire. And the tigers sees the cubs and wants to eat thems, but the great bear fought the tigers. The battle was long and hards for the bear and though many tigers falls, thems is too many for the bear and its gets weaker. And when it looks like the bears about to falls too, a great howling was heard that struck fear into the tigers and a wolf came. The wolf and the bear foughts side by side and kills all the tigers. Then the three cubs ate the flesh of the fallen tigers while the bear and the wolf talked. Me nots know what they say though. Then the great bear went into a cave to rest and heal its wounds and the three bear cubs followed the wolf away. And the three cubs grew big and strong as they followed the wolf, but me no sees where they go.”
Ragar and the shaman Kogar sat in silence for some time, both staring at the flickering flames. Softly the shaman spoke again, “what does this dream mean to you Ragar?”
“You have taught me lots in the ways of the shaman Kogur, and mes can understand some things. The three cubs is me, Tora and Sorus, and the silver bear is the Great Bear Spirit. Mes not know what the tigers or the wolf are, but mes can see the great snow has already fallen and there is not enough food for the Bear-Claw tribe. Mes think it is time to leave the tribe to find more foods for them.”
The shaman nods slowly in the orange light of the fire, and speaks once more, “You show great wisdom, Ragar son of Toragar. The path of the shaman is open for you to walk. You must leave the tribe and take your sister with you. You must find you brother and together the three of you must find this wolf and save our tribe.”
Ragars’ answer is short. “Thens me better get readies”.
Ragar stands and leaves the shaman to his fire. As he walks back to find his sister, the shaman speaks in a low whisper, “and may the Prince of Wolves watch over you Ragar”

Ragar BearClaw stand broad and tall at 6’6” with reddish blond, braided hair. He strives to do good for all he knows especially the people of his tribe, but his temper can get the better of him at times. His loss of himself in the midst of the Barbarian Battle Rage has made him seek guidance from the tribes’ shaman and he hopes to find a way to better control this rage and his temper. He now takes a spiritual path that will lead him into the service of Folian S’pae.

1. I have read the information on Folian S’pae and I will play Ragar as a faithful shaman of Folian S’pae to the best of my abilities.

2. Ragar seeks harmony with all of nature around him, using only what is needed to survive. He intends to give back all he can to nature and preserve as much as he can during the Dark Ages. Protecting the endangered animals and plants of Layonara is Ragars way of worshiping the Longstrider.

3.Ragar has grown up fighting with the Great Sword and he will never forsake this as his main weapon in battle. Upon following the path of Folian S’pae he will learn to use and craft bows as his second weapon.

//OOC just a clarification, I'm not saying that Folian appeared to Ragar in a dream, it was just that..a dream. But seeing that he has had the dream and that Folian is a god of nature, he will put two and two together and follow his teachings.
