Default Tath Zo'layum of the "Ziambii Ki" -Ed or L

(( Note: the ! is an actual character from most african language for the "click" they make in some words.))

Full Name:Tath Zo'layum
Age:18
Class(es):Barbarian
Race: Human
Subrace:
Alignment:TN
Deity:Rofirien and Pyrtechon
Domains (if cleric):
Biography and Description:

Tath was born into a tribe called the "Ziambii Ki" which is "CHildren of the Dragons" or literally translated "Dragon Children". They worshipped both Pyrtechon and Rofirien considerign them to be part of the same dragon standing for strength knowledge and family. msot members of the tribe worshipepd both dragons, however it wasn't uncommon for one to worship one of the dragons. most of the warriors worshipped "N'i!a", or "Destruction" the name for Pyrtechon, respecting the strength and destruction that he stood for and that they created int heir role to their tribe. shamen and elders usually worshipped "Nala", or "Peace" the name for Rofirien, respecting the knowledge and wisdom he stood for and that they needed as the tribe's leaders.

From the time Tath was a child it was foretold that he would become a warrior of the tribe. he was tall and Remarkably strong. however, he was a firm beleiver in "Gi'jiam" or "Balance" The name for the dragon that N'i!a and Nala made. He respected both, knowing that strength was as important as knowledge and the wisdom to know when to cuase destruction and to use hsi strength. Becuase of his clinging to Nala, the other warriors would jab at him calling him soft. The teachers of war felt the same way barely paying him any attention. in effect, Tath was poorly trained. his parents knew this too. They respected him for holding fasts to his beliefs and for understanding that life, regardless of what the life belonged to, was still life and was just as precious. however, they knew he had no place in the war that their tribe was at with the otehr tribes of their home. A war faught in competition for food, territory, and survival.Home was an island in the southern hemosphere, rarely traveled to, but somewhat known for it's primitivity yet intiligeance. they had knowledge of boat making, but they saw ne reason to make boats unless to leave the island. hardly anyone ever left.

Tath's parents had a Boat prepared for him so that he could make it to the main land. It was known that the culture was different on the mainland and they spoke a language called "common". The language was taught amongst the tribe incase one fromt he mainland should land on their island. they were hospitable and friendly, however they enjoyed and their simplicity and peace which is why they had never joined the mainland. Thus it shouldn't have been too difficult for Tath to fit into mainland society. on hist eighteenth birthday, Tathw as sent to the mainland, with it beign hsi choice to perhaps come back home one day, when they were at mroe peaceful times with the other tribes of their island.

I really don't see anything in this bio that would support a monk fighter split class. Also you might want to read through the submission rules for monks. Leaving the path of the monk to multiclass means you can not return to the path again without a CDQ and there is always a good chance of failure. If you take the fighter levels first then you have to CDQ before taking up the path of the monk and again there is a good chance of failure.

Also while it is an interesting story I'm not sure how feasible it would be. Pyrtechon and Rofirein are enemies. Ones blessings do not aid the others followers at all so to worship both is a chaotic contradicion and I doubt either dragon would tolerate sharing its followers with the others. The island as well would have to be insignificant, unmapped and entirely unheard of and the language you described there doesn't exist in layonara.

Default Re: Tath Zo'layum of the "Ziambii Ki"

i understand with alot of your points and i got explainations for all of them.

Monk/fighter: i chose monk fighter, not as two seperate classes, but mroe to make a class. it was stated many times that they live aprimitive lives, so they wouldn't be using metal armors, maybe hide armors. so i choose monk to reflect that, however i want him to use a weapon, probably a spear. as of now i want the two classe sto be a clean split, also to reflect that it isn't two seperate classes but one class.

Gods: the gods are seen a bit differently to the Ziambii Ki than civilization. becuase they haven't melded with the mainlands, they have beliefs that they stick with and see as true. the two gods are seen more as a symbol of life and death. Kinda like a religion with so many gods that you don't worship jsut one, but all of them for each of their aspects. thus is the same way with the tribe. they worship N'i!a during times of death, like when a family member dies, or before a battle. where as they would worship Nala during harvest season hoping that life has been brought to many vegitatian around the island and that they will eat well and stay alive. in a sence neither are really worshipped, just praised for their domains within their society.

Island and language: the island is insignificant. very insignificant, and as stated rearely hear dof. of corse a few travelers will have stumbled across it, but really it's an out of the way island. as for the language, with the society developingo n it's own it's pretty safe to say they would develope their own language, having close to no outside influences.

Im sorry but that is not how cross classing with a monk works. You would need to follow the same rules as everyone else and that is as I explained above. I am going to flag this for Ed or L since you are proposing a new culture.

Very interesting Jearick. I would like to see more defails and information on this tribe. Since you changed it to Barbarian this is going to be approved. I do hope to see a few pages on this tribe though. We are always looking for my details and writeups from players that are trying to define a tribe or culture.
approved.

The Ziambii Ki - The Children of the Dragons.

Appearance

The Ziambii Ki (pronounced Zee-ahm-Bee Kia) are dark skinned humans. Explainations for their differenc ein skin color have been many. one noted that Like Orcs or Ogres, the Ziambii Ki had enlarged features. IE. Noses, lips, hands, and feet. this points to a theory of the tribe having half orc or ogre ancestry. Another theory ha sbeen that becuase they are in a southern part of Layonara, the sun has tanned their skin, some as black as night, while others a dark brown. As stated, the Ziambii Ki have enlarge features. their height ranges from over six feet to around eight feet. Tattoos are very popular amonst the Ziambii Ki and are usually of N'i!a (the Ziambii Ki name for Pyrtechon prnounced En-eye-*click*-ah)), Nala (The Ziambii Ki name for Rofirien prnounced Nah-lah), or Gi'Jiam (the symbol of balance amongst the Ziambii Ki, combining the two rival dragons into one gold and red dragon pronounced Gia Jee-am.). other designs include prayers, and rank amonst warriors or Elders.

Culture.

As stated the Ziambii Ki are very fond of tattoos. they beleive that by placing the image on your body permanetly you are taking the meaning of it into your soul. A warrior will usually have a tattoo of N'i!a ont heir body, perhaps multiple times, to show their devotion tot heir role in the Tribes survival. Elders will usually have a tattoo of Nala somewhere on their body, also to show their role in the tribe's survival. Gi'Jiam can sometimes be found on those who do not favor either side of life, they see that botha re neccisary and should be praised equally. clothing isn't important to the Ziambii. Both mena nd women will go shirtless, some prefer to wear a top or cover their chest with mud, these are usually thsoe with something to hide and are sometimes looked down upon.weapons are made from sharpened rocks and wood. Daggers, spears, arrows, and clubs are the commonw eapons of the Ziambii Ki.

Elders - The Dozamanas
Elders, or the Dozamanas (Doe-zah-mah-nah), are the decision makers in the Ziambii Ki tribe. they decide peace or war, hospitallity or hostillity, whether a new animal or plant found is editable, and if not what other uses it could ahve. they are also the ones to decides what another's role will be in the tribe. A Ziambii Ki may become a Dozamana as young as ten years old, if they show the wisdom needed to become a Dozamana. However, they don't become a Dozamana right away. they are an A'!aka (ahh-*click*-ahkah) , or disciple, for several years, observing how thier assigned Dozamana makes his or her decisions.

Warriors- The Za'kodum
The Zo'Kodum (or Warriors prnounced Zoh Koh-Dum) are the defenders of the Ziambii Ki. it is up to them to keep the tribe safe from any rival Tribes (there are three tribes on the island including the Ziambii Ki). If a Zo'kodum is killed in combat, the Ziambii Ki will hold a funeral pyre and eat int heir name for the life they sacrificed for the tribe. There are three ranks in the Za'kodum. The first rank is Zo. These are the warriors Who have yet to learn to fight. they have perhaps killed an animal or two, but for the msot part they have no experience with a blade. The next rank in the Zo'kodum are teh Kos. they have experience with a weapon and are in charge of passing their knowledge to the Zos. One becomes a Ko after their first fight with a rival tribe's man. the last rank consists of the Dums. they have proven themselves man tiems over to proficient int he art of combat, and are the leaders. the main leader being the Za'ko. combing the first twor anks to shwo he has mastered combat and has assigned to the highest position possible.

The commoners - Ziambii Kis
As the name suggest there is no special name for the gatherers, cooks, smiths, or healers of the Ziambii Ki. they are the bulk of the tribe. they consist of those who follow Gi'jiam, those too weak to be a warrior and not wise enough to be an elder, and those who decided on their ownt hey wanted a more peaceful and stress free life.

Classes of the Ziambii Ki

Rogues, Clerics, barbarians, monks, fighters (barbarian reccomended before fighter) and rangers are acceptable classes of the Ziambii Ki. magics have not reached the primitive island, neither have metals. Bards are allowed, but they may not use their songs for magic untill they have been taught how by another bard, same rule applies with rangers and clerics may only use their healing spells untill taught their other spells by another cleric. levels in paladins, sorcerers, wizards, and druids are attainable through rp after reaching the mainland. paladins take ALOT of rp to become as the Ziambii Ki are a CG-TN tribe, oen must start with one of those alignments. CG is very uncommon, and TN the most common. For an example of what kidn of rp a Ziambii Ki would need to become a paladin, they would need to graps the concept of decency, good morals, and the laws of the city.

Some points from me:
1) Just curious, I'm wondering what language the names are from?
2) Is this based on an actual African tribe as you state the ! is a click sound?
3) You state "he was a firm beleiver in "Gi'jiam" or "Balance" The name for the dragon that N'i!a and Nala made" There is no dragon Rofiren and Pyrtechon made.
4) Just for the sake of clarity "Children of the Dragons" only refers to their worshipping. It in no way means any dragon ancestry.
5) For us to use this, you will have to accept the terms in the copyright policy in the upper right hand section of the forums.

Thanks.

i was actually waiting for someone to ask a couple of these. i'll go over them in the order you asked.

1) the language isn't an actual language from rl, it's completly fictional that i have made up for tools in Tath's RP.
2) it's not based on any single afrifan tribe, but it's the feel i'm looking for
3) Gi'jiam i sjust a belief of the Ziambii Ki, it's in no way an absolute truth, but as they have been isolated, this is the belief that that have come to. that the two dragons are able to come together, and beign opposites, create a dragon symbolizing balance.
4)of corse they don't have dragon blood int hem. i never stated anywhere that they did. infact, on of thet wo theories that were mentioned is that they could possibly have orc or ogre ancestry, this is over hundreds or thousands of years of corse, if the theory is true, and they wouldn't have any racial traits from either.
5)i have read the copyright thread, and this is my own original concept and i accept the conditions =D.

The first Rival Tribe.

The Guatumas - "people of the sun" or literally translated "Sun People"

Appearance.

The Guatumas ( pronounce GOO-ah-TOO-Mahs)are shorter and lighter skinned than the Ziambii Ki. however, they can be jsut as strong. they range from five feet tall to around six, the tallest reaching six foot three. their faces are rough and are sometimes refered to as being made from clay. remarkable Guatumas and Ziambii Kis look nothing alike. The Guatumas realish in body paints and peircings. they enjoy the colors of the sun the most, using orange, red, and yellow paints to create designs they believe draw the sun's blessings. piercings are generally in the ears, nose, and lips. it is not uncommon to have on through the eyebro, arm, nipple, or belly button however. for males, the more peircings one has the tougher they are, for females, they may only have piercings in their nose if they are considered beautiful, then they may only hav eon int heir belly button if they are with child. the peircing stays the rest of their life marking that her virginity has been taken. other than theset wo conditions, females only have peircings in their ears. men generally wear bald heads, while females always have long hair. depending on a female's standing her hair will come to her shoulders or to her ankles. the short her hair the higher up she is, the longer the lower down. women are not seen as equals in this tribe, so allowing a woman to have as short as hair as down to their shoulders gives the feeling that they are close to the equality of a man. a male with long hair is outcasted, or treated like a woman.

Culture

The Guatumas are cannibalistic by nature. they see meat as meat, even among their own. a weak member of the tribe is subject to become part of a feast. becoming crippled are loosing an arm or a hand two ways to become eaten. most will kill themselves if they lose a limb not being able to accept being a fraction of who they used to be, and not wanting to hear that they will becoming a meal. unlike the other two tribes, the Guatumas do not have ranks or orders within their tribe. this is a head cheif and everyone else is either male or female. however, even though technically there are no higher ranks or inequalities amongst gender, men and women can earn respect and honor among the tribe and be looked to for leadership or help. The tribe is also very "every man for themself". each family can hunt, gather, cook, sew, pierce, pain,t and build. each person has to be independant. this is the Guatuma's greatest trait and also greatest downfall. becuase of this all of it's members are strong and able warriors, usually two of any other tribeman for one Guatuma, but also the disorder means they rarely fight together, only in great battles that can effect all of them as a whole, which they have never lost an important battle.

Classes.

the Guatumas are very limited in their classes. Barbarian is almost a must. monk is also allowed, ranger is also allowed. the Guatumas are a very dexterious tribe but they are also very strong. they can and will not use heavy armor, even when they have been melded into the mainlands, unless they give up their way of life all tegether, which the Guatumas are one of the most stubburn people alive.as far as magics go, a guatuma would never become a sorcerer or a wizard even after melding into the the mainlands, they are weak, and to dependant on other forces. clerics however would be fine, as wella s druids. Druids is the most prefered magical class for a guatuma ont he mainland, it is also the easiest for them to fit into. the Guatuma have innate magical abillities wich allow them to use ranger magics up to the first circle and sometimes the second, depending on how strong they are. they do not understand what it is they are doing, so they have never been able to harvest the innate magical abillity further, this is even more so because of the distance between the members of the tribe. rogues and bards are also seen as weak. also becuase of their canabalistic and chaotic nature it is impossible for a Guatuma to become a paladin.

recap.

acceptable classes: barbarian, monk, ranger w/mainland influence: Fighter, druid, and cleric

unaccepted classes: wizards, sorcerer, bard, rogue, paladin.

The Second Rival Tribe.

The Ha'shans - "Tree Walkers"

Apperance.

The Ha'shans ( pronounced "Hah-Shains) are very different from the Guatumas and the Ziambii Ki, the are shorter like the Guatumas, but tend to have long black hair regardless of sex, also they have more oriental features. The Ha'shan is a very dexterious tribe. all members have corded muscle rather than stocky builds. they are the only tribe that keeps their body free of changes. they believe in naturaility and see such things as peircings,t attoos, etc as unnatural and harmful. Men generally have their hair braided while women will keep their hair free or pined up in a primitive bun, usually uasing feathers to decorate it. the Ha'shans are a very decorative tribe as well. they are the only tribe to use dyes and to wear full clothing, they are also the only tribe to make decorative weapons.

Culture.

The Hashan's are simplistic and humble in nature despite their love for colors and decoration. Among the tribes they are the msot hospitable. they are also the most against this war, and there have been many times that them and the Ziambii Ki have had peace treaties, though something usually goes wrong and the treaty is forgotten. the current one between the two tribes is five years old. the longest lasting treaty was ten. The Ha'shans are also the longest living tribe, increasing the other tribes' speculation that they have elf blood. whether this is true or not cannot be distinguished, if there was such blood, it is gone now for nothing but their longativey with life and dexterious nature would point to such.

like The Ziambii Ki the Ha'shans have a caste system. unlike the Ziambii Ki they have more of a empire than a democracy. the chief of the Ha'shan is called a "Ho Phet" ( HOE FET) or "great Teacher". the Ho Phet is unmmarried and therefor carries no heir. a new Ho Phet is chosen after each one dies. The Ho Phet chosen is given complete and absolute loyalty as well as dictatorship. the current Ho Phet is Guien Do'un (prounounce "Gee-in Doe-uhn" ) who has been reigning for 20 years.

Under the Ho Phet is their General or "Ha'gue" ( pronounce Hah- Goo) or "Tree Protector". He is considered the best at his art of combat, and is usually looked to when war is unavoidable. He is valued for hsi want for peace but understands that sometimes they must defend themselves and he is willing to do that for his whole tribe. in a direct confontation, the Ha'shans will rarewin the battle for they are the weakest of the three races, but a planed ambush, any any other attack in which they use their bow skills as wella s their hiding skills will be won.

Classes.

all Ha'shans are speed based. Rogues, rangers, speed based fighters and barbarians, monks, and druids are acceptable. The Ha'shans becuase of their bond with the forest ar ethe only tribe to ever been visited by their god, Katia (whom they called "Ha'Chi" (pronounced Hah- Chee) or "tree spirit" ) have been taught the art of magic in the form of druidry. However, becuase it was taught to them by Ha'chi it is considered very sacred and only the Ho Phet and anyone he considered faithful enough are allowed to learn the art. the magics of Druidry however, are never used for war agaisnt the other tribes and thus it is unknown by the other tribes that they have this knowledge. sucha rt is used in the healing of nature, constructing shelter (which causes their structures to resembles trees that have grown just right for one to live inside them), growing food, and helping the animals of their forest.

Dion - the Island.

Dion was discovered around sixty years ago by an elven explorer named Dion Liashian (Pronounced Dee-on Lee-ahsh-ee-on. He reported that the findings was a complete accident. he had told his first mate to head east to land. a misccomunication occured and the firstmate headed due west. late that afternoon, when Liashian had awoken from his meditations, he was pleased to find that the mainland was days away from where they were. however, looking through a spyglass eh was surprised to find an uncharted island about two weeks off the coast near Port hampshire. it wasn't big but it deffinatly wasn't small. the size of an average forest maybe. instead of beign angry with his first mate he kissed his bald head and ordered full speed to the uncharted island. they were there in three days. they took a small rowboat for the captain and his fighters to take to shore. he decided that he'd name the island after himself, Dion. almost imediatly upon landing they were created by ten of the tallest humans he'd ever seen in his life. one of them nearly double his height. it was almost rediculous to see these giants waering almost nothing and carryng around spears. the leader stepped foreward and began speaking in a strange tongue full of tongue clicking and hard consonants. they quickly signaled that they didn't understand, the people were obviously intelligent enough to figgure that out. they looked at each other and a different one stepped foreward and began speaking in common. this lead Liashian to believe that many ships have run aground here and that this could be a famous pirate island.

it turned out theyw ere right, Dion had many names. Scuttleman's run, Greddy's reef, No man's island, and the Bone yard. through out the Island's history, many Pirates have lost their hull to the dangerous reef that surroudns the island, save to the south where teh Ziambii Ki live. It is usually that the island is being passed to the north, where the Guatumas live, and that is why the island is named such deadly name's. there is also rumor of a treasure on the island buried by a pirate named "scuttleman", whether the rumor is true or false is unknown.

as stated the Ziambi Ki dominate the southern part of the island, the Guatuma dominate the northern part of the island, and the Ha'shans dwell in the westin. the Eastarn part of the island is believed to be cursed, the trees live there, and are very hostile. the trees are called "N'!okos (N *click* oh-koh) by the Zimabi Ki, the "Tombonas" (Tom-Bo-nahs), shianshi'Ha (Shee-ann-shee-Hah) to the Ha'shans. all three tribes are dreadfully afraid of the "cursed" trees, thuis only the brave adn thes tupid wander those part. some families in the Guatuma live in the area, but are enver seen after they enter the territory. Researchers wonder if the trees are another tribe all together.

Climate is generally warm on Dion. in the northern Guatuma area, it tends to get colder, but not by much. terrain is mostly flat, though there seems to be some hills in the cursed area of the island. the trees that cover the island are coniferous. there are also a few sapindaceae here and there. covering the ground are Ferns, exotic flowers, and mosses. the types of conifers seem to change with tribal area, the redwoods dominated the Ziambii Ki Region, while Douglas Firs tend to be the most common in the Ha'shan region, and in the Guatuma region there is an abundance of Junipers. however, redwoods, Junipers, and Douglas Firs canb e foudn in all three regions, just the other two not as much as the dominant one. thsi phenomena can't be explained other than the gods' will.

Becuase of the Tribal dominance, The tribe has been split into four regions, the Ziambii Ki region, the Guatuma Region, the Ha'shan Region, and the Cursed Region. landscape, plants, and some animals tend to change with the region, though the island is only as big as an average forest.

Little mroe is known about Dion, for many do nto visit Dion and no further research has been done. the Island stays undisturbed and peaceful, save for the Cursed trees.
