Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. When you join you'll also be able to communicate privately to other members (PMs), establish and respond to polls, upload and download content and access many other special features. Default New Character - Averill Duncan

Name: Averill Duncan
Age: 21
Class: Cleric
Race: Human
Align: Neutral Good
Diety: Lucinda

Description: Blonde hair and blue eyes. A soft spoken, soft featured man who has a constant look of compassion in his eyes. Averill is 5'11 and around 180 lbs.

Bio: Averill was born an orphan with no knowledge of either of his parents. He was left on the doorstep of the town hall in Krandor. After several failed attempts at placing Averill with foster parents he was of age to decide that he would just remain in the halfway house until he was old enough to set out on his own.

Thoughout his upbringing at the halfway house, Averill was constantly working to improve the conditions and lives of the children. He worked with the founders of the house and created a place of peace. He was lucky enough to receive a formal education and constantly looked for opportunities to improve his mental fortitude. His interest in relgion was found at an early age but not formally pursued until his adult years.

His kindness and appreciation for life were some of his most infalliable qualities. He was looked up to as a leader and benefactor. Upon the age of 18, Averill felt that there was a calling in his life to do more good. He tearfully left the company of the halfway house, where he had spend nearly his entire life, and struck out on his own. He is truly missed by the children and founders.

The real-world was quite a shock to young Averill and he encountered many difficulities along the way. He was robbed of his meager valuables within a week of his departure. Never without a smile or positive thought, Averill continued on his journeys. One night he met up with a traveling group of priests of the deity Lucinda. They were traveling to Hlint to meet up with other priests of friendly dieties. They invited Averill to join their group and he did so willingly and with great interest. Along the journey they taught Averill the ways of Lucinda. Averill realized that Lucinda was his calling. He soaked up every word the priests said and questioned them constantly to learn more about their faith. Upon reaching Hlint, Averill was completely committed to the deity. He spent a few more weeks under the priests tutelage and realized his calling as a cleric.

The priests suggested that when their travels continued that Averill stay behind. They told him that the best way to understand and grow with Lucinda would be to find one's own way. Averill heartily agreed and looked to his future with excitement and curiousity.

Please review the thread on submitting a cleric and provide the required numbered information at the bottom of the thread.

Also, you did not state which domains you will be selecting as required.

Fix and I'll look at it again. Thanks.

1. I have read and understood the portion of the deity information pertaining to Lucinda and I am prepared to be a devout follower of the faith.

2. Ever since being a child, Averill has had nothing short of an obsession with magic and magical arts. Unfortunately he was brought up in a halfway house and had not been exposed to many arcanic ways. Upon his leaving the halway house he had strove to surround himself and learn more about magical ways. He is always curious and will frequently speak with mages at length about their powers. Following Lucinda was a natural extenstion of Averill's being. The combination of helping others and the exploration of the magical arts is a great fit for his life's road. He take the five Coran arta i very seriously indeed.

3. It would be difficult to place Averill as a mage or cleric. He carries a quarterstaff and wears robes indicitive of a wizard. The holy Symbol of Lucinda is around his neck.
