New Character Submission - Tod Fellow

Biography:

Tod was born into a family that was nothing but peasants. He was raised to steal what he needed and never knew the value of earning. Since their lifestyle was like this, they never really lived any where long enough to actually call home or to get caught in the act.

As he grew older, his parents had to leave him on his own when they were taken to prison where they spent their final days. He had no other family alive that he knows of and he has no other source of food and clothing except himself. Tod had decided to attempt stealing and he certainly discovered that it held had dire consequences, but always managed to flee. Since he was an orphan, he has a still growing softness torward the people in need, but when it comes to the wealthy people, he will take what he needs from them, because he knows that what he takes is not going to effect them much.

He was sitting up one night in a hayloft, listening to the rain that was drumming on the roof of the barn, that he came to a conclusion that his was of getting what he needed was to.. risky. That next day, Tod took whatever he could find to make crude trap for the time he needed to make off with the items. His next attempt was such a success, he practically walked out of the front door without a man waving a sword at him and shouting threats. But he grew older, matures in the mind and he found other ways to get what he wanted

Tod has never thought of following a god or other supernatural beings controlling all the nature that is around him. It was all about him making it through the next day. He thinks gods are a joke and a waste of time when there are things that need to be done.

Tod sometimes helps others when he feels it is right or is bored, which is most of the time, and will help if he can get a share of the loot that is collected. Magic is a show to him, something that he enjoys watching be done. He admires the spell casters that roam the lands, and sometimes fantasizes what he would do with the spells he observes through out the day.

If it gets him what he wants, or is to save himself, he will lie. If it does not benefit him, he'll more than likely not lie.

He will not hesitate to lie or cheat if it is to save himself or gets what he wants.

Tod thinks it is unfair to fight against an unarmed foe, but if he is cornered or is in danger, he will attack.

----May or May not Use, hurt and kill an innocent without a second thought or for pleasure.

Tod will never hurt or kill innocent people.

----May or May not Use torture for pleasure and information.

He is not a torturer, and is more than likely to come up with another idea to get the information he needs. If the people he his with does not change their minds, he will not take any part in it.

----Will not kill for sheer pleasure.

Tod does not kill for sheer pleasure.

----Unlikely to help someone only to kill or rob him.

Tod likes to help as long as he gets a share of everything the people he is with collects.

----May or May not work well within a group (Depends on if the group maintains a balanced view).

Depends on the people that are in the group. Religious people do not bother him, or at least there faith does not.

----May or May not follow the ways of honor, authority, and self-discipline.

Tod doesn't really care what people think of him. Does follow laws if they benefit him.

----Associate mostly with other Neutral alignments.

----May or May not betray friends.

Tod likes friends because he had none growing up. He is not likely to betray his friends


Description:
Tod Fellow has eyes that are darker than the underworld. He has scars that cover his hands and one that stretches across his right temple. His hair is pitch black and he stands at 3'3". He's often in a good mood and likes to grin. He can be cautious even serious at times. He's no lady's man.

Hi there!

While LORE shows both your characters at levels seven and eight respectively, I'm guessing that the good Mr. Lockhart just made 9th, hence your application. (If this is incorrect, please inform us.)

Chaotic Neutral, as you know, is a restricted alignment. To that end, we'll need to see extensive elaboration on the character of Tod.

For example:

• Where'd his family come from? A family of halfling thieves would either have to be good, or would be locked up very quickly.
• What's his view of magic? We know how he feels about the gods...
• How'd he get into trapmaking in the first place? All we have from you so far is that he was suddenly intrigued by them.
• Describe some events that happened in his life - what has his greatest achievement been so far? Does he have any great aspirations? What was the worst thing that's happened to him?
• Etc..

Basically, we want a much fuller picture of the halfling thief entering Layonara. Let us know who he is, where he came from, and what his goals are - your path may change as you start adventuring, but you still need an origin from which he came.

How about true neutral? Is there any requirements for that? Like level requirement of already created characters? If there is none or if I have already met the requirements, then I would like to change it to true neutral.

There is no level requirement for True Neutral characters. It would, however, require a significant rewrite of your biography to match the new alignment.

Hi again!

While I can see you've put some time and effort into this, and I appreciate that you've addressed most of the points in my initial post, there are a few things I'd still like to see.

I'd definitely like to see more support of the True Neutral alignment change. While you've added some of the details I've initially specified, his personality and behaviour seems identical to the initial submission. (In fact, most of the paragraphs are identical.) What makes him True Neutral?

I'd also like to see greater development in general, but that isn't required for a simple halfling rogue.

But please address the alignment issue, and we'll get you in-game as quick as we can.

This still reads as primarily a Chaotic character -- there seems to be no Lawful balance to those tendencies to make it Neutral.

Possibilities you may consider: the fate of his parents and/or his own "close calls" has led him to be a more "upright" citizen, and while he still has the skills, he has decided to follow more honest pursuits; or consider going for Chaotic Good, rather than True Neutral, and make him a little less self-serving and more of a "people person", e.g., helping out those who are hurt or hungry.

Of course, these are only examples, you should develop the background to fit your concept of the character, within the server rules. The other alternative is to keep Tod's submission as-is, but defer it until you satisfy the minimum requirements for Chaotic Neutral, at which time the team as a whole will evaluate whether it will be allowed.
