Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Default New Character Submission - Scott Tormick

Character: Scottie Tormick
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Class: Rogue
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral Good

Biography:

Physical discription:Scotts a 5 foot and 11 inch stout looking man.. he wears mostly dark in color clothing, and has a look of a warrior but an attitude of a trickster.. He has blondish brown hair, and he trys his best to cover his face around new people, and deep blue eyes. He moves with grace that almost makes it seem as if he is floating.

History: "come on Jake,(my father) you never make time for me.. I want to go hunting with you." Please!"

"No son, you are to young to become a warrior, it is not the like I think you would like to lead anyhow, I remember growing up, other kids going off and telling stories of battle and fights they had. *chuckles* not me though... I met Jaklyn, your mother. *stares off into nothingness" we were ment for eachother from the moment I met her."

*Scottie rolls his eyes* "but I am not like you father, I wan't to help people, I want a life full of adventure I can look back on. Can you at least show me the basics?"

"Fine, I will show you what I know, but I am not what you would call a brute *smirks* that is not how I was taught."

"He took me into the woods, untill we came to a clearing.. I was amazed the way my father could move so swiftly and without making a noise, I just stood and watched him trying to copy him"

We got there, and he pulled a small blade out of his claok.

"this is my kind of weapon son, it may not seem like much, but you would be supprised what this thing can do" *he took it and flung it into a tree, and with a thunk it nailed the dead center"

*Scottie stood dumbfounded at the speed* "where did you learn that?, I asked".

He replied. "grandfather taught me, he was quite swordsman, he thought I had good potential, but i did not choose that path.. *smiles* your mother wouldn't have aproved. Anyhow, if you choose on becomeing an adventurer.. I suppose I could teach you a thing or two, but the rest is probably better for you to learn on your own *smirks* I think you may have what it takes"

So, from there on I would go into the woods, I would hunt some squirells and rabbits, with just my blade, I was getting pretty good at sneaking up on them, and knowing just where to place my first blow.. the rabbit fell within a second.. I brought my winnings home, and my father was quite proud of me. My mother just grabbed them and started up dinner. I had enjoyed my days of hunting in the woods, but after a while I had mastered the act of it. I came into town of Vehl, looking for work. I was told of a mercanarie problem stealing peoples good off the road, I thought It would be simple enough of a job.. I did not know that these mercanaries where not as dumb as i thought.. I had observed them for a few days, i figured out thier patrolling patterns, and thier weaknesses.. I decided on the third day I would make my attempt.

*the wind was shaking my tent that morning* I awoke, and threw on my gear, made sure I had everthing I needed to get the job done" The first scout had walked his way up past the hill I was waiting got him to be.. I snuck up on his way back and got him not paying attention, he fell to the ground with a thud. I picked up his belongings, and kept it together to give to the towns folks..

"Now for the hard part" I thought to myself. How was I going to take out the three in the main camp..

I set up a trap for them, I made sure it was sound..I simply set up a net trap, and concealed it the best I can.. I hid in the shadows, making an attempt to get them over to me I threw a rock from the ground.

*pang* it bounced off the armoured mans armour..

"hey, whos there" He motioned for the others to follow him.

*i smirked at thier stupidity, they would walk right into my trap.* and sure as I had thought the stout armoured man stepped right on the trigger, and with no more than a second to react they were packed to the brim in my trap, I spiked the bottom, so that if they were to get out they would not meet a very good future, and headed to the town guard.. He followed me there, cuffed the men and gave me my pay... *I tapped the leather bag, feeling the gold thunk against my hand*

"ahh you have my thanks"

"no, you have the entire towns thanks, these people have been a problem for to long now, and thanks to you people no longer need to walk in fear."

With that I took my leave, I told my mother and father that I was ready to head out on my own, gave them a few gold and was on my way.
