Default Character Submission Glim SilverHammer

Character: Glim SilverHammer
Age: 45
Gender: Male
Classes: Cleric (may try undead slayer at a later time)
Race: Gold Dwarf
Alignment: Lawful Good
Deity: Aeridin
Domains: Healing and Sun

Bio: Glim stand around 4'0 ft. and weighs about 160 pounds. He keeps his light brown beard very neat. You can usually see Glim wearing his white robes and his golden leaf necklace around his neck. He can be seen speading the word of Aeridin, and aiding those that need his help. He hates the undead and can be seen putting them to rest. Thou he hesitates to don armor, thou when it call for it he dons his full plate armor and strikes true with his maul.

Glim was born on a night in which both Oru and Ausir the great moons where full. A time which is special to all the followers of Aeridin. Thou when he was born it wasn't important to him. Glim was born to average craftsmen parents. Who did basic mining and foraging. Preety much all of the gold dwarves in the settlement where crafters and merchants. Glim learn the basics of mining and foraging from his parents. Thou he learned how to fight from the milita instructor. This settlement of Gold Dwarves favored the silvered-hammer. That was the weapon in which the militia leader taught them how to use. Taught the same way sense thier people were driven from thier moutain kingdom. Glim was preety skilled with his silvered-maul. After his training was complete he had reached the time in the dwarven society where a dwarf became a younge man instead of a younge boy.

And on that day the Dwarves where going to go on thier annual trip to the towns to sell thier goods. This was going to be the first year that he was allowed on the trip. Usually the younge stayed with the few elders. But this year he was finally old enough to come on trip. It would be a long trip that would take many many days.

The trip was going good and they were about almost there when they set up camp that night. That night it was cold, very cold, almost too cold. Both Oru and Ausir the moons where at new, so little light was in the sky. As the traders slept, Glim could not. He was too eager to see what the towns had to offer. A twig snapped Glim thought it was just some animal, but he grabbed his slivered-maul and decided to investigate. He didn't walk into the forest to long until he saw a strange looking man wearing black robes, and a scary skull on his head. It was speaking something, but he couldn't understand. He creep quietly a little closer ( well as quietly as a dwarf could creep) When he saw a whold horde of undead monsters. He went to turn and run, as he ran his foot hit a root and he fell, when he fell his head hit a rock and he was knocked out.

When Glim awoke, it was still dark, so he thought he couldn't have been out for to long. He picked up his silver-maul and ran to the camp, he then saw a sight that he would never forget. Their camp destroyed and corpses were everywhere. The grass was red with blood. He ran around hoping that his parents had not met a grim fate. Thats when he saw his father and mother, dead. He hugged his parents and tears began filling his eyes. He wiped them a way grabbed his silvered-maul and screamed out his battle cry. He went charging at one of the undead bashing it till it no longer moved. He defeated it and went to find anouther one away that he could fight one on one with. There were to many one dwarf to handle. Thou he fought and fought, he continued to bash the undead monsters, he fought past being tired, he faught past being fatigued, he faught till he had to energy left. He faught till his beloved silver-maul had been destroyed. He faught till he passed out.

Luckily, for Glim he wasn't the only one who was fighting the undead. A group of Aeridin's followers and been following the black robed man, and finally had caught up to him. When Glim awoke he was at the Aeriden temple, and next to him a beautiful elven maiden who was checking on his wounds. She had told Glim the story of how The they found him after defeating the undead monsters. How they had brought him here and she had been watching over him. She said he was more then welcome to stay with her at the temple. Glim not knowing what else to do, everyone he knew and loved where dead, decided to stay at the temple. Glim and the elven maiden bond became very strong. She taught Glim of The Lifegiver's blessing, how life is a great cycle and that it should not be prolonged, that he should seek out the undead and put them to rest. That in Aeridin's eyes violence and fighting should only happen if it absolutley needs it. And always aid those who are in need. She also taught him of the towns. Taught him of the humans and halflings, and gnomes, and especially of the elves. She taught Glim of her people. How they loved the art, and music. She taught him songs of her people, and showed him art work she had made in the past. She showed how the elves you different patterns to express thier ideas. Glim was so curious about the elves. He took everything in that he could about her and the elves. She taught him all she knew. She even taught him the languages of the elves. She spent hourse every night for many many years teaching Glim the language of her people. She started practicing with by naming off everything in the temple, next they went and named off the things of the towns and the forest near it. Then worked on complete sentences and sentence structure. Then she polished him off with abstract ideas. She once said that Glim was spared by The Lifegiver for a reason and that he should dedicate his life to him. And that is what he did. Glim started to become a cleric, and by the time he reached his manhood in the Dwarf society he had became a cleric. He decided to head out into world spreading the The Lifegiver's word. Healing those that need to be his aid. And putting to rest the evil undead in which killed his family. For he knows that the undead are just blatant abberations, in which it is his calling to put them to rest and let the great cycle continue. Glim knows that there are those out thier that do alterations and transformations to prolong life and that this is wrong. That they should be spoken to first and taught of the great cycle. Then and only then if they continue thier wicked ways may force be used. Thou the undead did kill his family, he knows that death souldn't be morned, but that thier lifes should be celebrated. That they will live on through the memories that he has of them.

1. I have read the material on Aeridin, and will do my best to R'P a cleric of him

2. Glim knows that life is a great cycle, and that death is a part of that cycle. Glim will search out to put the undead to rest. Glim is very friendly and when others need aid he is one of the first to offer his services. He knows never to hurt anyone unless the situation absolutely calls for it.

3. Glim wears the robes of Aeridin. He almost always is in a robe of white. Unless the situation needs him to don armor. Then he dons on full plate armor. Glim knows that Aeridin favors the staff, thou due to his upbringing Glim still uses his maul. And he prays to The Lifegiver that his blow will still strike true.

//I would also like to request the ear of elven and will have the neccesary int. for that ear.

Hello, great story. One issue is the "groups" of undead he defeated is a little out of whack with a level 0 PC. Also he will not be able to start out with a sliver maul (maybe it breaks in the battle)

hello, I appreciate the speedy reply. Ok so I took out parts with the silvered-maul and added a line in which the one he had got broken. I also changed the "groups" of the undead to just one at time, so hopefully that will work better with the lvl 0 PC. Will await your reply. I also would like to know if thier is enough written so that he can recieve the ear of elven.

THanks, will await your reply.

Just so that you are aware, there were things added to Aeridin's dogma some time ago that are not reflected in the current handbook or his entry on LORE - yet it IS in effect, as you can find it in temple places.

From the temple at North Point -

Quote:
Preserve and protect life; the gift to exist is not one to be taken lightly and thus one must live an exemplary life, devoted to benevolence and care. Tend to those who ail. Offer your gift of healing to make their stay in the mortal realm a wholesome experience, yet once death has taken its toll, respect the passing and enjoy the fond memories of their life. Do not dwell or mourn those who passed for too long - death is sadness, but without understanding sorrow, one can not understand happiness.

Promote health and the well-being of the body and mind before everything else. Any extension, transformation, alteration, and corruption to the natural form and shapes of being, is an affront against the sanctity and purity of life and should be confronted at first with gentle lessons and benevolent teaching, and if such ways do not work, with a stern and firm stance instead. Violence is the last option; use it only on those who defy these teachings.

Undeath is the most blatant aberration to the sanctity and purity of life. Put them to rest by any means necessary, so that their souls may reach their homes. Use the gift of the Caring Light to bring brightness to the darkest of places; never succumb to its temptation, for they only bring a taint on the spirit.
I'm sorry for the additional comment on your post, but this dogma is essentially in effect in-game, yet unavailable outside of it, and adds a strong stance against unnatural alterations/transformations. It's inconvenient for you this way, but it seems better to notify on character submission than have a cleric going "wha?" once he's in-game. Could you acknowledge his stance on this? Or, if it conflicts too much with how you see this character at this time, ask any questions/clarifications that might help straighten it out or settle things?

Great thanks for all the extra work on this one. You are approved and you are approved for elven ear. Please have a GM see this thread.

Your character has been approved.

Some final notes on character creation:
  • Please note that racial adjustments for players with subraces are skin based and thus get applied after getting in game.
  • Only two ability scores can be less than 10 and only one can be less than 8 after racial adjustments
  • Brownies, when selecting a head, the head you choose on the halfling selection will correspond to that numbered head for elves (for example, clicking right 6 times on the head selection during character creation will take the 6th head when clicking right on the elf creation)
  • Half-giants and ogres, please ask for a GM (type /dm Anyone here?) if you would like to change to a custom skin.

have fun!

To request entry into the Aeridinite forum (where there is more IC information, possibly including a bit on the aforementioned changes regarding transmutations etc rather than just undead, if I remember, if not, oh well :P), go to your account options, then the "Group Memberships" link at the bottom left, and then select the "Followers of Aeridin" option from the list, and click the "Join Group" button. A moderator of that forum will add you when they get your request.

Have fun!
