Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. When you join you'll also be able to communicate privately to other members (PMs), establish and respond to polls, upload and download content and access many other special features. Registration is fast, simple and absolutely free. So please. join our community today!

Default Sarah Asdams

Sarah Asdams
Class: Fighter/Barbarian (don't know but will follow 5level rule)
Alignment: NG
Deity: None
Age: 18

"Harder!" screamed the man in the metal suit at the large figure with a sword in front of him. The figure just withdrew the sword from the straw dummy and thrust again and again and again until the man beside it stopped screaming and pools of sweat dripped from under the edges of the rusty dented helmet on its head.
When over the figure tiredly removed the helmet and shook out a surprising shock of long straw colored hair. The face below it was female. Well it was more female than male and when she stripped off the ill fitting practice armor, the gender was more apparent. Female she was, but she was big; far bigger than the other male fighters in the arena.
Such was things for Sarah. She grew up in the hill country of Mistone, devoid of a mother and with a less than paternal father. He treated her more like a boy than a girl and the tough life in the mountains developed growing bone and muscle more to look like her father than to any feminine aspirations. Her father Samuel was not a bad man; he just wasn't a good one either. He told her that her mother died of a fever. The traveling tinker told her that Patsy Asdams ran off with a traveling bard when Sarah was a baby. It didn't really matter much to Sarah's life. The dark skies meant little to eat. Her mother and any siblings would likely have died of starvation on the small rocky plot of land. Starvation, or at least the weakening of the body to disease from the lack of food, took her father three years ago. Sarah's been on her own since then. She's used her size to its advantage. She's worked as a farmhand and as a bouncer in a brothel. She's trained for a bit in Llast with the militia but the life of a soldier just wasn't for her. Since adolescence she has been bound to fits of anger that she has trouble controlling. Few have gotten close to her, but those that have say it may have something to do with her father's quick temper, one made even quicker and meaner when ale was involved. Sarah is a bit of a lost soul. She wanders really, without a purpose other than the main objective of staying alive. She feels best witha weapon in her hand, it helps to quell the rages she feels though at times the rages boil over in the fight. She has few preconceived notions of right and wrong. She knows the laws and stays within in them, but should push come to shove she'll save her own hide, maybe.

Some final notes on character creation:
  • Please note that racial adjustments for players with subraces are skin based and thus get applied after getting in game.
  • Only two ability scores can be less than 10 and only one can be less than 8 after racial adjustments
  • Brownies, when selecting a head, the head you choose on the halfling selection will correspond to that numbered head for elves (for example, clicking right 6 times on the head selection during character creation will take the 6th head when clicking right on the elf creation)
  • Half-giants and ogres, please ask for a GM (type /dm Anyone here?) if you would like to change to a custom skin.

Have fun!
