Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

| New Character Submission - Cal'isar Whitestone Character: Cal'isar Whitestone
Age: 120
Gender: Male
Class: Sorcerer
Race: Elf
Alignment: Neutral Good
Deity: Lucinda
Biography:
History:
Cal'isar Whitestone is an offspring of a Sun Elf father and a Wild Elf mother. Such unions are exceedingly rare, as the haughty Sun Elf often looked in disdain at their less 'civilized' cousins and the feeling was mutual from the Wild Elf's side.
However, their union was never formalized and both his parents perished in a battle with rampaging fire elementals which attacked his mother's settlement when he was very young. Cal'isar was raised by his grand-uncle from his father's side, who left the great cities to join the Wild Elves in their nomadic lifestyle and raise his grand-nephew.
Cal'isar's grand-uncle was a wizard and taught him to appreciate the weave and follow Lucinda. Stories of his parent's love for each other also gave a soft spot towards Ilsare. Cal'isar also feels that he has something in common with Xeen, as Corath seems to have abandoned her, which he feels what the Sun Elves are doing to him, with the exception of his grand-uncle.
Cal'isar developed a strong affinity for the weave, though as a sorcerer instead of a wizard. Being raised among the nomadic Wild Elves, he is accustomed to the moving around, unlike many elves who prefer to stay in seclusion in their cities and forests. His grand-uncle taught him well and Cal'isar is generally more cultured and less savage compared to his Wild Elven friends. While there's hardly any opportunity to do so, Cal'isar won't be embarrassing himself if he ever attends a formal evening ball.
Cal'isar has turned 120 years of age and a strong wanderlust now grips him. He bids his grand-uncle farewell, taking with him basic supplies and his most prized possession, a perfectly shaped white stone, a legacy from his father, kept inside an intricate leather pouch with the symbol of a leaf woven in silver thread, a legacy from his mother.
Additional Note:
Father's name: Cal'andor Whitestone, Sorcerer
Mother's name: Lyna'seth Silverleaf, Ranger
Grand uncle's name: Car'lien Whitestone, Wizard
Standard elf race (Moon Elf) taken as combination of Sun Elf and Wild Elf = +2 Dex and -2 Con
Deity:
- Worships Lucinda (Sorcerer training, influence from grand-uncle)
- Likes Islare and Xeen (Character background)
- Appreciates Kithairien (Wild Elf influence)
Racial Disposition (besides the normal prejudices):
- Likes Wild Elves
- Dislikes Sun Elves
Physical Appearance:
- Lean frame, typical of most elves though taller than most.
- Beautiful features, though lacking the usual haughty expression often seen on Sun Elves.
- Exquisite tattoos decorate the body. | | |

Some final notes on character creation:
- Please note that racial adjustments for players with subraces are skin based and thus get applied after getting in game.
- Only two ability scores can be less than 10 and only one can be less than 8 after racial adjustments
- Brownies, when selecting a head, the head you choose on the halfling selection will correspond to that numbered head for elves (for example, clicking right 6 times on the head selection during character creation will take the 6th head when clicking right on the elf creation)
- Half-giants and ogres, please ask for a GM (type /dm Anyone here?) if you would like to change to a custom skin.
Just FYI, sorcerers need only practice, not training - but I take the training to be composed of the appreciation of the Weave, rather than any formal magical training.

| Re: New Character Submission - Cal'isar Whitestone Thanks for the quick approval. If only downloading the haks were as fast...
I want to make a slight change to my char though. He won't be neutral good. Instead, his alignment is chaotic good as I realized my idea of this char is more chaotic good than neutral good. Besides, it makes more sense since he grew up with a bunch of chaotic wild elves.
I wanted to add more background for his grand-uncle so that his significance in my char's life is easier to see but I realized that this bio is about Cal'isar and not Car'lien. Besides, I got too tired of writing anyway! Hahahah! Maybe I'll expand on this more later.
I'm still not well versed in Layonara lore so I'm not exactly sure about the specific differences between wizards and sorcerer. When I mention training, I meant that Cal'isar and his grand-uncle often hold discussion concerning the weave, it's properties and so on. While the way they channel the weave differs, I believe they both use the same basic mental exercises to clear the mind and concentrate to channel the weave effectively. It is this sort of technique that Car'lien teaches his grand-nephew. Correct me if I'm wrong though! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
