Requesting approval to apply for a character development quest for the Pale Master prestige class for Vlanin.

Vlanin is now a 10th level wizard.

Pale Master is a complex PrC. A complex PrC needs a updated bio, development thread, and requires several CDQs. I am making my way through your CDT now but you need to write up a detailed submission as well. Thanks in advance for the extra work.

This is the synopsis of the Vlanin plot and highlights of his character development (which I am thinking is what you are after; let me know if I am mistaken).

There is trouble under the Hills of Taur'en for a local dwarf clan from "the enemy" (kept deliberately vague to fit in with any area development by Minerva).

The dwarves are suffering losses. Vlanin has had his own personal encounter with the enemy (at the end of the character submission). Vlanin feels hopeless and helpless about this, but doesn't know what to do about it. His wizard master has also alluded to a "dread thing" that he is guarding, trying to destroy.

In the process of reading through his master's library in an effort to find something that might help in the cause, he discovers the Necromilliom, a book on all things undead, including the benefits of the "Pale path" (how to become a Pale Master; this is the device to faciliate Vlanin becoming a Pale Master without having a Pale Master master). The benefits of Pale mastery seem to offer a solution to the dwarves problem.

However, his master has returned, found what he has done, and is very angry with Vlanin. It turns out the book that he has read is the very thing that his master is trying to destroy. He has taken away Vlanin's access to the library and the book.

Vlanin is currently faced with opposition from his master, counterbalanced with reminders of the ongoing struggle and his own personal mortality.

This takes it up to where I have written in the journal, which is about half way through level 8. Apologies for not keeping this as up to date as I would have liked, but "writers' speed hump" can drag things out from time to time.

The next development is Vlanin trying to persuade his master to let him read the book. He has had his own personal encounter with a vampire that was full of regret and didn't resist (so much) when the adventurers tried to destroy him. He feels that if everything went bad (viz, he became a monster) in his pursuit of the Pale path, that he at least he would be able to do this (destroy himself).

So, the point he will make to his master is that other people are sacrificing themselves in this conflict, he his willing to do this to try and see if the Pale path has an answer. The ongoing sacrifices is underlined by a new loss event that affects both of them. His master turns him down.

That takes the story to the end of level 8.

During the course of level 9, there is another loss event which causes Vlanin to challenge his master for the book. They physically tussle, but Vlanin is driven off.

Then, at the end of level 10, Vlanin suffers a personal loss and stinging rebuke, that causes him to challenge his master again. He overcomes his master, steals the book, and runs away to pursue the Pale path.

After that, Vlanin's character development comes from the consequences of his action, and the sacrifices that must be made to pursue the Pale path.

Currently, I am thinking the level 10 confrontation event would be the basis of the character development quest, but I haven't discussed this at this stage.

Some final notes on character creation:

Please note that racial adjustments for players with subraces are skin based and thus get applied after getting in game.
Only two ability scores can be less than 10 and only one can be less than 8 after racial adjustments
Brownies, when selecting a head, the head you choose on the halfling selection will correspond to that numbered head for elves (for example, clicking right 6 times on the head selection during character creation will take the 6th head when clicking right on the elf creation)
Half-giants and ogres, please ask for a GM (type /dm Anyone here?) if you would like to change to a custom skin.
