Domains: Trickery, Destruction
Special Requests: Ear For Halfling (It is assumed that most of the clergy of Branderback are Halflings. She would have picked up a rudimentary ability to understand it being spoken in those the three years she spent with them. I will not Rp her as being able to write or speak in it, but merely understanding it when spoken and knowing certain words (Hi, Black Hound, and Pie come to mind)
Personality: She’s cold and aloof. She has a kind of no nonsense policy, which is funny seeing who she usually is 'paired’ up with. She’s rational and able to work her way out of a tight spot, but when her rationality crumbles, then her wall does as well. She’s logical and practical, always with a few different plans of action to get what she wants. If All as fails she usually uses her brother as a scape goat.
History:
They were happy to bring such a Beautiful young girl into their lives. They had sworn to their respective Gods to care for and cherish their new treasure, and to give her as best a life they could within Arnax. They weren’t that bad off, they could afford the best in clothing and room for their daughter, and they both despite their fiendish faiths loved her in their own way and would not let anything compromise that.
And as planned as her birth had been , merely eleven months after Ria had been born, her brother had been brought , as a bit of an oversight, into the world. And so it was , they were never apart by much in years, and so in the early years they were never much apart.
From an early age, they learned to play and cover eachother’s strengths and weaknesses, and it was seen from early on which of them received which type of mental thought processes. The boy would always be the creative one, and he would always be the one ailing the older girl’s boredom. The girl would always be the one to find a way to make the boy’s plans come to life. Either by knicking secretly into their parents room or cellars to get exactly what they would need, or else tinkering with small contraptions that would settle their little arguments and design their small games.

She sat on a chair, her hands folded perfectly as she regarded the child barely younger than herself. “I’m bored” She stated simply, as if it were some great revelation. Digging her hand into her black hair, cut practically just below her ears, she dug out a small hairpin. “What are you going to do about that?”
The smaller boy let the blonde curls that surrounded his head like a halo bounce a bit. “Here’s what we can do Ria! First you open Maggie’s cage, We can make her an obstacle course. There can be a pit fall , spikes that shoot out of the wall and ..well..hmm can we do that?”
“Yes , dear brother just find me some string, some wood from Lora’s yard, and a few bits of metal, I’m sure I can come up with something. And what will be the prize for Maggie if she wins?”
“She’ll get to keep her tail?”
“That sounds fair...”

When they had been allowed to venture outside on the streets of Arnax, they were already well acquainted with each other, they knew each other better than anyone. They did not argue as normal brother and sister would, though Ria would always envy her brother’s creativity and find herself annoyed at it occasionally. Their combined confidence in themselves and their surrounding eventually got them the much proclaimed title as “Leaders” in their little pack of street rats; their gang. It became horridly obvious to their parents that these children were more than they bargained for, and combining that with their parent’s initial “Look at the cute kids!” Syndrome wearing off, they usually left the two to fend mostly for themselves while they took up more important duties within their respective temples.
As a result , the two referred to their gang as their 'true’ family, and began furthering themselves in the practice of delinquency. Ria’s brother could never quite match up to the thugs of the group, but would always be kept around for two primary reasons. One is that no one would cross her, and two was that she wouldn’t abandon her own brother, no matter how annoying he could be at times with his sillyness. With that, though she knew came brilliance. And despite his annoyances, she loved her brother more than anyone in her world.
One day in their fifteenth year, however, they bit off a bit more trouble than either of them wagered for.

Looking at her group of faithful thugs, her gang, her family, Ria asked the simple question “What’s on the menu today berks?”. As if on cue, they all turned their eyes to the small boy sitting in the corner, playing with a small flying disk. As if noticing the sudden attention, he looked up and smiled. “Taday’s Menu Taday’s Menu Hrmm.. Are we willin’ to see what we can get away with berks!? I learned from the adults that Taday One o dose government sods and his wifey are comin’ to visit. I saw 'im, he’s got a golden pocket watch. Ye know how much that would sell for berks!?”
“And how do you suppose we go about that?”
“Yeah How!” Hmph, Faithful servents, and yes-men. But her brother’s eyes sparkled. He had something very specific in mind..
“So berks ready? Listen close!” Said her brother, his voice charismatic, he fleeted around as a bard telling a grand tell... ^^^
....So the plans were made....and the blanks filled in...the scene set...and the actors given their lines....
And they would have succeeded if not for the betrayal of one of their own. The two of them, because of some strings their parents pulled, were believed to have gotten off easily. However the two would have rather taken any other fate rather than the one given to them. They were to be separated. They would have to survive without the other. They would be able to see each other in the summer seasons, but other than that it would not be.
Ria was sent to an all female finishing school near Pranz, to which she absolutely hated, but accredited her learning of the arts of subtle persuasion, and etiquette, things she begrudgingly admitted may come into play later, though not for their intended purposes. Ria had no idea where her brother was sent off to, but from the looks of the letters in their corresponding she would assume he was sent off to apprentice to a mage. They talked little of their actual lives and learning, and Ria did not even plan to tell her brother what she had planned.
Ria never finished her time at school past her second year. She escaped , the old fashion tied bed sheets and window way, out of the old building and into the city of Prantz. For the longest time it was just a matter of escaping the Deep Down Dwarven authorities that were all too keen on picking up stray orphans and delivering them off to the House of Hope ...if they were lucky. But she would have none of that.
Instead she watched and observed and in the night eventually found some patterns. People in black, always in black, holy signs, and heading into the sewers. The more she watched the more curious she became..until one night she felt confident enough to sneak in after them.
They laughed at that, for she was nothing compared to them, and they caught her immediately, though her curiosity did not go unrewarded. For her raw potential, and ability to learn she was let into their numbers as a child apprentice. She would do odd jobs around the place, and learn more and more..
About Branderback.
Ria had never been big on the gods, but this was something she could agree to. It all seemed so simple and so right to her “Take what you want, give nothing back. And always be prepared for the worst”. So much that she decided in her seventeenth year that she would not simply follow these teachings but be devout to the greatest practictioner of them. Branderback himself. She continued her devout actions, trying to prove her intentions to Branderback and eventually was granted with the gift she had been wishing for, the initiation into the life as a cleric.
And she was swept along on a mad mission soon after: For the Mad God.
And what she found was indeed mad. A Small congregation of them, And they had...no..she couldn’t believe it. They had amongst them, her brother. He didn’t look too happy but when he saw her, garbed in all black his eyes lit up
^^^
“How did you get here!?”
“How did you?”
“Apparently I’ve become something of a commodity in Arnax, they didn’t say why, just that they’ve heard of me, and that I would be of use. They ramsacked where I was staying to come to me. Why are you here?”
“To Rescue you”
“But you didn’t even...”
She shushed her brother. He didn’t need to know , at the time , all of her secrets.
^^^
But it turned out the reason they were there wasn’t so bad. Yes, her brother was a prisoner, but because she was there on a different mission she was given slightly more respect. Not much , considering the one sided relationship between Branderback and Corath. But some.
And the mission, turned out to be quite interesting as well. There was a familiar face amongst the crowd of two. Two Toranites. Two real prisoners. Two on death row. And one, one familiar face, the face of the sod that sold them out after that mission as children all those years ago.
Oh She would pay.
And so, together, the brother and sister duo were back to their old 'games’ because that was exactly what they were there for. The corathites at the time simply wanted some input onto the best ways to make two Enemies of their faith suffer. And so with his imagination and her brains and all of the supplies they would need they came up with a series of tournaments. Fights, setting the Toranites against eachother for the most basic of necessities, food, water, sanitation. It is amazing truly how people will crack when those things were on the line.
And the 'tournaments” were truly sadistic, for nothing less would be appropriate for the two. And it never phased either of them; one out for revenge, and the other for the simple sadistic pleasure of the game...
And then they both died....And Ria was to be sent back, and her brother..put to ..other uses.
Though not if she could help it...
Together they were unstoppable in their cunning, and together they escaped the Corathites , Sailing the complicated path to Vhel, and forging a new life for themselves under new names.
Velmira Veeto & Legretto LeFarge
//OOC:
1) I have read and intend to do all I can to follow the Dogma of Branderback as this character
2) Velmira sees this Dogma as something that makes perfect sense to her, as if she had been following it all of her life without formally knowing it, and in a way she has. She is very practical , but knows that sometimes you have to throw away all predetermined plans and roll with what’s been given to you. But she does believe in taking all she wants without necessarily owing the world anything. The only person she’d never betray to get ahead in a way that would do harm to him, would be her brother. She’d chose her brother over everything but her God directly.
3) Velmira plans on using leather leggings , boots, gloves etc. But will wear a chain shirt under everything else for adventuring purposes, to eliminate weak spots that leather chest gaurds may not cover. She will primarily use a short bow but will carry around a short sword if the situation calls for it (Which it shouldn’t, I plan on point blank shot.)
