Born a mere 11 months after his sister, Jenson Hallridge came as a slight surprise to his mother and father. Likely the result of poor planning or uncontrolled urges, he was however, welcomed into the world just as much as his sister Ria.
Although not particulary wealthy, the two children were doted over, and spent much of the time with each other, developing their own unique personality which, although seemed the opposite of the other, also seemed to counter the excess of the other.
Rather exceptionally intelligent and persuasive, Jenson was clear-minded, imaginative and creative. He would spend hours simply pouring ideas and plans and designs from his head, whislt she listened on and planned on how to make his far-gone dreams work.
Eventually, they began their -games-, where Jenson would plan, and Ria would see it to frutiton. It started small, breaking into their mother and fathers room, raiding the bakery in the early hours of the morning and making a small fortune selling the pastries on the other side of town, or stealing mangled metals from the blacksmiths yard and politely selling it back to him not five minutes later at the front door.
Eventually, their pranks and antics began getting more and more complex and creative. As always, Jenson would dream it up, point out its flaws and its profits, and Ria, the ever level-headed one, would see it come to reality.
Eventually, seeing the fun and confidence the two walked around with, others began flocking to them, eager to join the ride. And so it was they became leaders of their own little "pack".
Well....Ria became leader one would say. Jenson, never the confrontational type, could never stand up to some of the bigger, bulkier boys that joined their jaunts... that would be down to Ria. Though he always seemed to get his own back, twisting and winding words throughout the course of the day, until the bully ended up looking like a complete fool infront of all his friends.
Eventually, after the two began falling into more and more trouble, the parents began concerning themselves less and less with "what they were doing" to the point they were basically left to fend for themselves.
Until one event, which got completely out of hand, and the consequences of which stretched beyond what they would have believed possible. All through a snitch in their own ranks.
And so... a punishment worse than anything either of them could have dreamed came to reality.
They were split up.
All Jenson knew of where Ria went was the mention of a "school".
And before long, he was shipped off to work with a miserable, crotchy old mage and his two stuck up, brown nosed apprentices. They never cared much for his imagination, and although missing his sister, he still dreamt up some of his finer schemes and plans, though they seldom ever seemed to get off the ground.
Instead, he studied alot, and developed a new toy to play with. The hurling of sarcastic jibes and subtle insults at his fellow apprentice's became an art for him, one which began landing him in heaps of trouble.... especially when the two apprentices began excelling him in magical skill.
Having quite enough of this life, and missing his sister dearly, he concoted one final taunt.... mixing several herbs with certain properties, he sprayed them over the beds of the two apprentices before packing his meager things and dissapearing quietly into the night.
Safe to say, the two apprentices didnt appreciate the sudden boils and blisters they awoke with, but Jenson certainly would have laughed if he had realised the bright green hair the two awoke with that morning was actually a "permanent" feature, still puzzled over by alchemists today.
A few days in a dingy Inn in Arnax was all it took, before rough hands dragged him out his bed and into the night. Simply believing his prank had caught up with him, Jenson resigned himself to whatever they had planned. The apprentices wouldnt kill him... they were too soft for that, but he expected they had some form of punishment their weak minds had spent months pondering over.
But, dragged rather ungently, his arm being twisted, he was rather surprised to find himself taken into a temple of the Mad God.
Pushed up against the wall and told rather bluntly to stay, he bit his lip and spouted some rather fine and still impressive insults at the rough men who had captured him... receiving a sharp slap to the face for it.
" How your tongue Jenson....we know who you are.... and we got work for you." he was told rather abruptly.
Work? Work for him? So....it obviously had nothing to do with his little trick on the apprentices. So what was it about?
It was then....he spotted his sister.
How did you get here!?
How did you?
Apparently Ive become something of a commodity in Arnax, they didnt say why, just that theyve heard of me, and that I would be of use. They ramsacked where I was staying to come to me. Why are you here?
To Rescue you
But you didnt even --
She hushed him and he pondered a moment. Why had they getten the two of them back together?
Later, the reason was explained. The twos little expeditions in the past had received them some unaware fame from certain corners. And they had been given a task. In the back of the temple, they were shown to Toranites, bound and shackled in seperate cells.
- Break them- is all they were told, and the brother and sister regarded this new challenge with zest.
Back to their old games, Jenson came up with a set of -tournaments- for the two Toranites, to pit them against each other for the simplest of things, food, water, clothing
it took some time of course. But once the hunger and thirst began clouding their senses and judgement, it was easy. The two siblings watched on in glee when, finnaly, the two Toranites began fighting each other for a mere slice of apple dropped into the centre of the room. From that point on, they became mere puppets for the entertainment of others.
eventually of course, the games fun waned. And the two Toranites lives were ended.
Ria received instructions to return to her clergy, which Jenson was surprised to hear about, and he himself was simply released back onto the streets.
But the games they had been made to play sparked something in them.... and slipping out from the Corath Temple, they made their way to Vehl.
Aware now their names were known, and not in favourable circumstances, they thought up new ones before the ship docked and when the Dock master quizzed them in passing, they both answered the same with a sly smile....
Velmira Veeto & Legretto LeFarge
He is....well....not a particulary nice man. He can be sadistic and cruel, and prone to throwing subtle insults as those who may not quite know what he is talking about. He is the not the type to harm people for no reason of course, but, if there "is" a reason to do it, no matter how small, he generally has no reservations.
// ah....managed to post after all
