Default New Character Submission - Ezekiel Wheatchaff

Character: Ezekiel Wheatchaff
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Class: Cleric
Race: Halfling
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Deity: Prunilla
Domains: Healing Earth

Biography:

Wiping the sweat from his brow, Ezekiel straightened his back and groaned audibly. Being in the fields all day was hard work for a halfling of fifteen Harvests. His amber irises disappeared behind his eyelids as he shut his eyes and held his arms out, feeling the slight but cooling breeze. Looking down at the pile of wheat beside his feet, he nodded satisfactorily.

"Thishould be 'nuff fer t'day. I hope... Pa's always gettin' so daggern mad if'n I e'vn think a slackin' off."

Shrugging, he opened his sack and shoved the wheat in, after he bundled it up with some rope he brought out with him. Ezekiel shouldered the sack and began walking back towards the house when he spotted his sister, her ponytail bobbing up and down, running to the house in tears. Sighing tiredly he jumped up and down and waved to Emma, his crying sibling, and caught her attention. He always was able to deal with her better than Pa did.

"Wha's th'matter, Emma? Ya look like a Ma tha' one time'n we snuck inta th'kitchen 'n ate tha'juicy lil blackberry pie tha'took'er a whole daggern day t'make."

Chuckling reminiscently to himself he thought back to when they ate the whole pie by themselves... man did their bottoms hurt for the whole next month. Taking a few moments to stop her uncontrollable sobbing, she held up the small kitten that was in her hands. They had found it a couple days ago and restored it to health... but now... it looked as if one of those boys down at the Barleybrew plantation ran it over with their oxen. Wait a minute... did they?

"They ran 'im ova, Brotha! They dun struck agin, them Barleybrews! I c'nt b'lieve they'd gone an' go this far, but they dun an' did the unexpect'd!"

He put a hand on her shoulder sympathetically, his love for his sister was more than any normal brother would have for their own. Nodding in silence he motioned for her to hold the kitten, Mr. Giggles, out for him. She did so, expectantly, knowing what would come next and as she did her expression brightened considerably.

"Prunilla.. I beg of ya, aid Mista Giggles in this diah time o' need. Help me heal this po' fella, help me save 'is life. Thank ya.

He smiled as a golden aura swirled about Giggles for a few seconds and the wounds previously strewn about his body closed and healed. He loved Prunilla, with all his heart, she was his idol, his goddess, he was her disciple.

----

It all started after his tenth Harvesting when Misses Betty down the road was havin' a baby. Her belly, swollen as it could be, looked as if it was goin' to pop! Ezekiel and his sister Emma was playin' out 'round the barn and gasped when they came upon a familiar sight. Ol' Mr. Hensen. The fat ol' grumpy halfling that owned the Barleybrew Plantation was out and about, checkin' his wheat his corn but most of all, his barley. Them Barleybrews... they was known all throughout the region as the best brewers of ale the Plains North of Zainge had ever known. Ezekiel and his sister looked at each other, a gleam of mischief in their eyes. Each had, at the same time, gone through the flashback of their mother and father layin' out the rules of the fields. One of them havin' to do with that ol' fart out yonder.

"Now listen, y'hear? We a'ready been at odds too many a times with them god dishonorin' Barleybrews! Dontcha -eva'- go messin' with 'em... 'specially tha' nasty lil' Hensen!" Ma spit that last word out with extra venom, as if the name itself made 'er rage.

They was god fearin' halflin's, Ezekiel an' Emma. They worshipped Prunilla with sincere child-like faith, an' when time came 'round for trips to the city to sell crops a few prayers to Delia were ritualistic. But they was children too, an' he never was the type to follow rules. They wanted to have fun. Unknowin' of the consequences of their own actions, Ezekiel an' Emma lit Hensen's whole barley field on fire! Laughing until they realized their mistake, they ran on down to the home screamin' their little halflin' heads off. With tears streamin' down faces, Ezekiel an' Emma pointed back in the direction of the huge cloud of smoke. An' they heard screamin' on down the road. Apparently the flamin' field struck so much fear inta good Misses Betty, her baby started comin' out! As Prunilla would have it, one of her very devout clerics came a walkin' through the village. With pleads for help an' cries for assistance, that pretty little cleric rushed over to the Barleybrew's field an' called upon Prunilla's divine help in churnin' that earth right up inta the fire. Puttin' that flamin' field out of its misery, the humble miss swiffly came ta Misses Betty's aid. The child came out, with the help of the cleric, but there was somethin' wrong... it wasn't cryin' like any normal baby would. It wasn't breathin' at all. As breaths were held and plans for condolences was bein' thought in everyone's heads she, the cleric, held her hands up an' jus' like that the baby was a cryin' like never before. Ezekiel watched the whole time, mouth gapin' open and eyes glazed over with extreme awe. This was it. The chance of a lifetime, his mind was turnin' the thought over in his head. He watched her refuse the money they offered her, an' she began walkin' down the road hummin' a good ol' merry tune to herself. Shoutin' aloud he gave chase, sprintin' as fast as his stubby lil' legs could take 'im. He was clean outta breath by the time he reached her.

"D...D'ya... D'ya teach?"

Calmin' himself just a hair, he regained his posture before talkin' again.

"I wanna be able ta do that! I'll do wh'tever't takes! Let m'follow ya! Please!

Expectin' some sort of argument back, his mind raced through idea after idea of why she should teach 'im. But he almost fainted when she smiled warmly an' nodded 'yes'. When she asked for lodge at his house, he stared at her bewildered. He thought he was goin' travellin' with her! Well... whateva', he hadn't even asked his folks if he could travel with her or not anyways. Though he wasn't one to follow rules, he had a good heart and never intentionally worried his Ma an' Pa. An' so began his tutelage. His journey to becomin' a cleric of Prunilla. The Lady of Comfort, the Lady of the Harvest, the deity he began to worship ev'n more'n before.

----

As he saddled his ox, Ezekiel's heart fluttered nervously for a moment. He was going out, into the vast world around them. He'd never experienced anything outside of the Plains. Rarely anything out of his own village. Over three-fourths of his life was solely spent on the plantation. He was almost 27 Harvestings old now, his sister close behind at 25. As his thoughts lingered on his beloved sister for a moment he noticed her running out of the house, her face filled with distraught.

She hated to see him leave, they were inseparable as children, and almost as inseparable now. But she knew her bigger brother was growing too big for the roof. His natural tendency to ignore the rules became a common problem with him and Pa... resulting in a few minor brawls... but they always worked it out. Ezekiel's big heart and Pa's love for his son always did.

He almost opened his mouth to say something until Emma shook her head. He knew she didn't want to make this any harder than it was. She held something out, a pin it looked like. It was a finely crafted metal pin in the shape of a wheat stalk. The family name, Prunilla's trademark, the most treasured symbol Ezekiel could think of, and he had it in his hand as a gift from his close sibling. As if not talking was hard enough, he jumped down from the ox and hugged her tightly, a couple tears running down his face. He whispered into her ear.

"We'll be meetin' agin some day... I know it.

Before she could reply, he jumped back onto the ox, wiping his face clear and whipping it into motion. He couldn't stay forever here. No, not here, not when there was a whole world out there. More people to spread Prunilla's blessings to. Using his new pin to button his cloak at the top, he carefully put it in place. He would never lose this. It took all the strength he could muster not to look back, and he whistled a tune for the road. What things would lie in wait for this cleric of Prunilla?

//I understand the dogma of Prunilla...blahblah.
//Also, if someone is thinking about making a new character, think about making Ezekiel's sister! Just let me know IG first, of course, but anyways, his sibling would be welcome. Thank you.

Hi Cambo.

While this looks good on the whole, we do need the numbered dogma statements. They are required for every Cleric, Paladin, or Champion submission, and this submission cannot be approved without them.

Thanks.

1. I have read and acknowledge the dogma and principles of Prunilla
2. Ezekiel saw the cleric in action, how she was able to help his village, and immediately it clicked in his mind that he was called for such a thing. Helping others, and most importantly assisting in Harvests, was what he pictured in his mind. A humble halfling cleric of Prunilla that has traveled from his home, Ezekiel stops at villages on his journey helping with the harvest healing those that are in need of it, and spreading the teachings of his Deity. He is excited to 'share her' with everyone he meets, and even if they do not like or worship her he never gives up hope.
3. Always dressing in earthy colors even before becoming a cleric of Prunilla, Ezekiel loves to feel close to the ground from which crops grow. Now he wears them not just cause of his liking, but because it is what Prunilla smiles upon. Almost always seen in clothing of cotton, rarely silk, he wears leather studded with metal when in combat. His weapon of choice is a hand axe, light enough for him to wield effectively and a common tool he used back home to chop wood and collect certain crops.

Hope this is good enough!

Yes it is. Darkstorme beat me to the punch on this one LOL.

Your character has been approved.

Some final notes on character creation:
  • Please note that racial adjustments for players with subraces are skin based and thus get applied after getting in game.
  • Only two ability scores can be less than 10 and only one can be less than 8 after racial adjustments
  • Brownies, when selecting a head, the head you choose on the halfling selection will correspond to that numbered head for elves (for example, clicking right 6 times on the head selection during character creation will take the 6th head when clicking right on the elf creation)
  • Half-giants and ogres, please ask for a GM (type /dm Anyone here?) if you would like to change to a custom skin.

Have fun!

Just as a note, Prunilla's trained clerics are referred to as Lucky Clovers, matching Deliar's Lucky Coins. Have fun!
