NOTE-- I had a forum ID before (just "Ondioline") but haven't been here for 6+ months & can't remember the password.. Hope this doesn't cause trouble.. Any old characters are null, void and forgotten.

Masada hails from a clan of Gold Dwarves who lived for decades, if not centuries among the humans in the Roldem Empire. They were well-known weaponsmiths, and their creations were highly prized by warriors, generals and nobles across the land

He was born the runt of the litter, so to speak, and while not exactly frail he is small and scrawny for a dwarf. His father, uncles and brothers dismissed him as worthless, since he would not have the strength or endurance required to spend days at a time at the forge, but his mother saw that he showed intelligence and a certain aptitude towards the arcane, and with some convincing she was able to secure lessons in the magical arts with a human wizard of great ability (being a Gold Dwarf who lives among humans, this is not as shameful as it would be if he were a Voraxian Shield Dwarf, but it was still much to the males of his clan's chagrin.)

And then, when he was a young dwarf all of thirty or so years of age, Roldem fell. Masada was in training with the wizard at the time, which is the only reason they survived- the wizard was able to call upon a portal to allow them to escape. His family, unfortunately, shared the fate of the kingdom and were slaughtered to the last dwarf. The good wizard himself returned to try and aid his fellows and most certainly died himself... Leaving Masada very helpless and alone.

The years in between saw him go from refugee camp to refugee camp, eventually landing in Hempstead, where he found work for a local blacksmith doing the lowliest chores for slave's wages. For nearly three decades he silently did as he told, doing chores far beneath him and living as only a step above a slave or indentured servant, just for the opportunity to be near a forge. At night he would spend hour upon hour studying and practicing his cantrips; for all of his troubles and ordeals he never let his book of spells out of his sight.

Now that he has reached the age of maturity and fulfilled the terms of his contract to the aging smith, it is time for him to set off and seek his fortune...

Goals:

Masada is a crafter and a devout, if a bit unconventional follower of Dorand. He uses magic to overcome his physical limitations in crafting (and more importantly in acquiring materials.) As the last remaining member of his family he spends his days continuing their tradition, creating fine weapons and enchanted goods to please their diety, though as his training was far from complete his creations are but a shadow of theirs.

Additionally, as a long term goal he seeks to preserve his clan's legacy by retrieving their materworks* that were lost when Roldem fell, to take them out of the hands of the undeserving and if possible to gleam something of the techniques used to create them to pass along for future generations.

*Finely crafting weapons of great beauty, but no more powerful than any others of their kind, just in case that raises a red flag or something.

Personality:

Very intelligent, but somewhat anti-social and awkward. Crowds make him uncomfortable; he'd rather be spending countless hours in a craft hall or alone in a room in an out-of-the-way inn studying and practicing his magic than anything else. As he is quite used to spending most of his time alone he lacks certain social skills, and has a tendency to say exactly the wrong thing at the worst possible time (sheerly out of ignorance, not malice.) Still, he is a dwarf and a lawful one at that, and is a trustworthy ally when he is actually able to make a friend.

Some final notes on character creation:

• Please note that racial adjustments for players with subraces are skin based and thus get applied after getting in game.
• Only two ability scores can be less than 10 and only one can be less than 8 after racial adjustments
• Brownies, when selecting a head, the head you choose on the halfling selection will correspond to that numbered head for elves (for example, clicking right 6 times on the head selection during character creation will take the 6th head when clicking right on the elf creation)
• Half-giants and ogres, please ask for a GM (type /dm Anyone here?) if you would like to change to a custom skin.
