Character: Eryndel Dy'nair
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Class: Ranger
Race: Half Elf
Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Biography:

An intrepid being from the settlement of Vale. Son of an elven mother from the mysterious Saida and human father of Dregar. Eryndel found peace in the woods at a young age, which has led him into the life of a ranger. From the influence of his mother he always seemed to posses a gift and affinity for nature and animals. His mother never tells him of Saida and rumors have his thoughts itching for answers about the island of Voltrex and his heritage. Whenever he brings it up though she immediately changes the subject or refuses to speak of it. The reason for this was his mother left Saida in not in positive terms because she desired to break free from the secluded realm of the elves and see the world. As he grew, he became a respected and keen youth within Vale. He was always helpful towards others within the village and enjoyed learning from all of them. This resulted in Eryndel learning the arts many practices that would shape him as an young adult. Fascinated by unfamiliar cultures and languages he is yearning to on exploring more of Dregar and even leaving the island in search for knowledge and new people. Eryndel is level headed being who is reserved as well as clever. He is a free spirited half-elf who sees the realistic nature of things but he will not tolerate injustice towards others. Ohhh I read the character creation section and realize I have to make my character from Layonara. I apologize for this and I will remake my biography. I guess I need to start reading up on this world. Sorry for the mistake.

There I redid the biography. If there's anything I'm missing or that you still need let me know.

Hi there!

First and foremost, thanks for reading up on the world. It makes the character submission process so much easier.

That being said, I think his happy childhood in Pranzis is a bit unlikely. In 1402, (21 years ago, game time), the city was overrun by Lord Rael's forces (a general of Bloodstone), and partially destroyed. The city was then rebuilt under martial law for a number of years, and remains the most heavily policed city in Layonara. While it is a powerfully Lawful city, it still does not allow many freedoms of its citizens. (It's all in Layonara's Timeline.)

Voltrex was (until a precious few years ago) a closed continent. If you left the continent, you could never come back, and few elves left willingly. This, in a way, would make sense for his mother, since if she were banished, she naturally wouldn't talk much about it. However, it's certainly something to consider.

If you're looking for a location for him to grow up, I might Vale or Willow's Weep. The former is a small theocratic village on the border of the Forest of Fog, the latter a larger community on Dregar, predominantly Elven. Neither suffered an invasion, though everywhere in Layonara was shrouded in darkness for the years between 1402 and a few years ago, following the destruction of Bloodstone.

The one remaining thing that would be nice (though not obligatory) to see would be something in his personality that makes him True Neutral. There's very little to point him one way or another, alignment-wise. He's curious, and exploratory, but is he gregarious and well-meaning? That might be enough to push him into Good. Regardless, I leave that bit up to you.

An excellent start, and hopefully the information I've provided will help you in your revision.

Thanks!

Alright thanks for the input. Ok so after going over what you said I feel that Vale will be a good home for him and that his mother departed from Saida under definately in negative terms because she desired to break free from the secluded realm of the elves and see the world. Perhaps this is where Eryndel gets his exploratory nature. In regards to his alignment I read over the descriptions of the alignments since it's been a while since I've D&Ded and I feel lawful neutral fits him much better mainly because he is a level headed free spirited half-elf who sees the realistic nature of things but he will not tolerate injustice towards others.
I think that's all for now.

I also have a friend who is looking like he will apply to play here as well. He's thinking about playing Eryndel's father so you might see his application on here sometime soon.

Please make the changes in the story along the line that you have stated and I am sure this will be fine to approve. We look forward to your friend joining the fun as well.

Alright, a good first submission.

Your character has been approved.

Server address is west.layonara.com
Password is layoplayer

Some final notes on character creation:
  • Please note that racial adjustments for players with subraces are skin based and thus get applied after getting in game.
  • Only two ability scores can be less than 10 and only one can be less than 8 after racial adjustments
  • Brownies, when selecting a head, the head you choose on the halfling selection will correspond to that numbered head for elves (for example, clicking right 6 times on the head selection during character creation will take the 6th head when clicking right on the elf creation)
  • Half-giants and ogres, please ask for a GM (type /dm Anyone here?) if you would like to change to a custom skin.

Just as an FYI, Vale is not so much a "city" (unchanged from your original submission, as a "village', since it is a theocracy comprised of about 600 people. Also, bear in mind the attitude of a Lawful Neutral character as you play.
