Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

| New Character Submission - Karath Lunder Character: Karath Lunder
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Class: Ranger
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral Good
Deity: Folian S'pae
Biography:
Being the 6th son of a farming family, Karath Lunder knew his destiny must lie outside the farm. At the age of 7, his father, Longrave gave him a small garden to raise. The plants seem to grow at a faster rate than on the rest of the farm. He seemed to know what the plants needed, but did not know why. At 9, he noticed the smaller wild animals did not fear him and would eventually befriend him. At 11, his father decided he was old enough to learn to hunt. He brought Karath into the woods near by with a small hatchet and some twine. It was there, his father thought him how to make a bow and how to fashion arrows from nature's gifts. He suprisingly a natural marksman and killed his first deer on his 3rd try. His father was impressed and taught him how to use all parts of the deer so that nothing was wasted. He taught Karath to tan leather to make belts and boots, and how to cure the meat so that it would not spoil. This angerd his brother Elaim, being the eldest, believed he should be the only one taught how to farm and hunt.
At age 15, Karath's father, Longrave Lunder died of a mysterious illnes. Elaim was the heir to the farm and lanes. He Immediatly rid the farm of all of the younger siblings. Karath fled into the woods where he knew he could survive. He eventually made his way to Arms Keep. It is there he met with and Elvin Ranger by the name of Ly'naim Flimania.
After speaking with Ly'naim of his experiances, Ly'naim took Karath under his wing and train him to be a Ranger. He took Karath thru The Wild into the Hunter's Vale. It is here that Ly'naim taught Karath how to listen to nature and the value of nature's design. Ly'naim aslo taught him that the laws of man ofton conflict with the laws of nature. Always follow good even when it conflicts with nature. It is also here that Ly'naim taught him about Folian S'pae.
At 18, Ly'naim decided to take Karath to Folian S'pae's temple in the Forest of Fog. They headed south and came to the Great Desert. Ly'naim told him that this was the result of man's inability to see and follow nature's plan. He then led Karath south to the Bramble River. Here Ly'naim spoke his last words to Karath, "I leave you here to find the temple of Folian S'pae. It is there your destiny will be chosen."
Karath stuck to the treas and used the animals to find his way to the temple. It is there he met a human cleric by the name of Robyn Brownleaf. She tole Karath, "Your path of serving Folian S'pae is your's to choose. You may become a Ranger, Cleric or Druid." Given his time spent with Ly'naim he decided his best chance was to become a Ranger and set out to help protect the forest of the world.

| Re: New Character Submission - Karath Lunder It is a good story but it has to be adjusted.
This disappearance of Rangers in Vale --> something you made up or something from the handbook? Please elaborate.
Animals on Layo do not talk. There is no way there was a talking wolf. The bit about the animals bringing him herbs is a stretch as well. There is nothing supernatural about rangers and this bit seems to hint of some type of supernatural connection to nature.
Please address the animal issue and answer the Vale question and it will be looked at again.

| Re: New Character Submission - Karath Lunder Removed the talking wolf and missing Rangers. I had made up the missing rangers.
Changed the small animals to just befriend him. | | |

| Re: New Character Submission - Karath Lunder Better, I just have one further concern. With the editing of the center, the bio has a hard time now reading as Lawful Neutral. Could you perhaps add a story from the character's perspective to demonstate this view on the world?
Folian is Neutral Good in his alignment. We just need to see that you understand what lawful neutral is so that you will play the character appropriately in game.
Thanks

| Re: New Character Submission - Karath Lunder Changed alignment to Neutral Good. That was my mistake and did not catch it. Sorry for the choppiness of the center. when I went to edit the first time, it deleted all but the first paragraph and dummy me forgot to save the original Open Office Document. I did add a line about Neutral Good. | | |

Some final notes on character creation:
- Please note that racial adjustments for players with subraces are skin based and thus get applied after getting in game.
- Only two ability scores can be less than 10 and only one can be less than 8 after racial adjustments
- Brownies, when selecting a head, the head you choose on the halfling selection will correspond to that numbered head for elves (for example, clicking right 6 times on the head selection during character creation will take the 6th head when clicking right on the elf creation)
- Half-giants and ogres, please ask for a GM (type /dm Anyone here?) if you would like to change to a custom skin.
Welcome to Layonara
