Personality: Taevnil Jindaern is a survivor a warrior and an observer who carefully plots her strategy before striking. She does not socialize much and cares little for others save a few. Because many people have hurt her deeply including her own father who betrayed her she holds within a burning anger distrust and hatred for all men. She is calloused and able to tolerate great pain because much of her earlier life was spent in slavery to the whims of her former master and his twisted desires. She will say very little unless the need arises and walks alone save for a few sisters she trusts and her despised but dependable slave. She enjoys playing her foes against each other and is not above using people to gain what she wants. She also enjoys inflicting pain upon men with her whip whether in battle or not. She enjoys the thrill of fighting but is wise enough to know when it is not the best course and more subtle means are required.
Background:
Treachery is common place among her own people, finding anyone willing to protect even their own was rare. Taevnil's mother tried to raise her daughter to be strong even knowing one day she might turn her back on her. She can remember the day that her mother and she were betrayed by her father. Her mother had tried to fight against him to save herself from his treacherous ways, and as she fell, Taevnil had gotten in the way trying to help her and was struck by her father knocking her out cold with his strength. It was last thing she remembered before waking bound by chains.
He would receive sure justice granted by the Dark Mother though meeting his end to betrayal by those he conspired with to sell his own daughter into slavery. They took her with them and sold her to a man even colder and more twisted than her own father. She only knew his name as Master and he made her do all sorts of things dirty and cruel to keep him happy.
Such abuse was suffered by her in her enslavement that flashbacks plague her even to this day. Though she strives to forget she can not. When not being actively abused by her master she was confined to a pit hidden beneath the floor of his home. Often she would be left locked within unfed and unwashed for days at a time while her master would be away on his business. Upon his return he would customarily torture her or beat her before setting her to menial tasks about the home. With time she became grateful for the quiet respite the pit offered despite the hunger and filth she would endure while within the darkness. Pain became her only reminder she was still alive. At first dreams of her mother would be a comfort to her in the darkness but ultimately she would lose faith in hoping for anything beyond her next meal. Over the course of years she would learn to endure and eventually ignore the pain of being tortured by her master amid his shouting to her that tears were for the weak. Eventually when most people would wish for death as a release she was long past wishing for death long past tears she could not cry.
Finally a day would come when she would hear the sound of a scuffle above her. A rival House to that of her master had raided his home and killed him and though she tried to keep silent in fear that the men she heard above would prove to be just as cruel hope of rescue returned to her enough that she wept and she was discovered in the pit and brought out before the home was burned to the ground. The man who discovered her quickly knocked her unconscious and then the raiding party drug her outside while they debated what to do with her. After she began to awaken she found herself shoved her into a nearby river to wash off the filth of the pit she d lived in for so long. Rough hands scrubbed off the filth and a knife was used to shave off the tangled mess of knotted hair and grime that crowned her head. Finally when her mind cleared enough to dare to believe she was no longer in the pit dreaming a woman among the party stood forth and lead her back to their own House and the private temple of the Dark Mother therein.
A woman named Sorena was she who had lead Taevnil away from the river and back to the temple. When she had heard about Taevnils discovery she came to look in on her as she lay unconscious. As she tended to Taevnils wounds she saw potential in her as a new follower of Vierdri ira and decided to mentor her.
As she began to heal and regain her strength under Sorenas care Taevnil would begin to find comfort in the sounds of chanting within the temple shed been brought to. Curiosity prompted her to begin questioning Sorena about her faith in the Dark Mother whenever she would come to visit her. Sorena would tell her of how the hearts of all those unlike the sisters in the temple were not deserving of compassion that men were corrupt by nature and must learn to serve in their rightful place the greatest thing you could do to the weak was to end their suffering with a quick death. Yet when Taevnil asked her why her own life had been spared Sorena simply explained 'When I saw the tortures you had undergone and lived through I knew you to be worthy to serve our Dark Mother.'
After time Taevnil came to believe Sorena and to live by the Dark Mothers will. She wanted more than anything to devote her life to serving her. To end the existence of the faithless of the weak to show the men their place - to destroy all those who opposed her and no matter who stood in the way if they were too weak to fight they should not be allowed to live unless they submitted to the will of the Mother of Darkness and chose to serve her.
As a testament to her growing faith and a show of her personal strength and endurance - having nothing else to offer her newfound goddess - Taevnil took up hot metal dagger and began to carve into her skin intricate patterns - shedding her own blood for the Dark Mother. She relished in the pain accepting it and embracing it. The carvings were her personal statement that she was now the Dark Mothers servant to show unwavering loyalty to her and strength. It wasnt long before Sorena was informed of the carving and she quickly joined Taevnil in the temple. Taevnil handed the blade to her and she understandingly took the dagger and began to continue the pattern on Taevnils back. Taevnil would always serve faithfully her true Mother. Sorena handed Taevnil a robe to cover with and as she put it on the blood soaked into it covering it in the intricate designs that now covered her own body. That night as the blood flowed and the smoke of incense filled the room she meditated until Sorena had come back to check on her once more.
The pain of her life had become her path to the Mother of Darkness - even if all she had to offer was her desire to serve to begin with. She would use her desire to find ways to bring her Dark Mother all the treasures she could wrest from the hands of her enemies. She would gladly show the weak no mercy and instead of submitting to the will of men she would make them submit to her and bend them to the Dark Mothers Will.
Sorena began to take Taevnil under her wing more over time and teach her the rites and rituals of her devotion to Vierdri ira as well as all of what she could to defend herself and to fight back in combat. Eventually Taevnil began accompanying raiding parties against enemies of Sorenas House.
During a carefully plotted surprise raid on a rival house Taevnil encountered a male dark elf of a third House whod been held captive by those the raid was against. The dark elf who referred to himself only as 'Shame' pled for her to spare him and in exchange vowed to serve her. Seeing a chance to repay upon this man some of the cruelty she d endured from the hands of other men, and also recognizing that the possession of a slave would increase her own status, she accepted the dark elf male as her slave.
For many years she stayed among the sisters of Sorenas House and eventually she became accepted as one of their own. However as Taevnils own reputation within the House grew, so did Sorenas distrust of her. Eventually her distrust of Taevnil prompted Sorena to send her favored student away on a special mission against their enemies on the surface - secretly hoping that Taevnil would never return to usurp her own position of power. Taevnil had learned all she would from her mentor and House-sisters and knew - though she did not like it - that it would be safest for her to leave as she d been directed to with her slave by her side.
She knew the day would come from the first time she woke to the crimson light in the temple. She knew the day that Sorena had given her a name, Taevnil Jindaern, which meant "Found in Darkness". She knew the day she carved her faith of the Dark Mother into her own flesh that she would be betrayed again in some way. She knew she would one day return and make them pay dearly - only now she returned stronger with the blessings of the Dark Mother to call upon and with her own slave to carry out the menial tasks that she found beneath her.

Dogma Statements
-----------------------
1) An acknowledgement that the player has read and understands the dogma and expectations of their chosen deity and intends to follow them.
I have read and agree to uphold the dogma of Veirdri ira to the best of my ability in playing this character.
2) How this particular character sees and interprets their deitys dogma in the past and how they will in the future reflect that interpretation. This does not mean that your character may not change how they interpret the dogma or how they embody that interpretation as they are influenced by world events and RP. Treat this section as more of a description of how your character currently plans to embody their interpretation of the dogma.
Worship the Mother of Darkness or die. Destroy the weak and the faithless.
Self-explanatory though to meet requirements Taevnil believes if female dark elves do not follow Vierdri ira and cannot be converted they must die.
Strive to better yourselves even at the expense of others - in this way you will gain and keep the favor of the Mother of Darkness.
Again self-explanatory but Taevnil strives to perfect herself in all that she does not worrying about who she might have to double-cross bring harm to or outright kill in order to gain and keep the favor of her goddess.
Dark Elves are the supreme race and females are better than males.
Taevnil believes this to the core and she seeks every opportunity to prove it and belittle men in general but especially dark elven men.
The Dark Elves shall reign supreme in the Deep. Annihilate the surface Elves and take their lands from them. Do not aid the enemies of the People.
Taevnil interprets this as a standing commission from her goddess to wage war against the surface dwellers especially elves of other sub-races but knows that direct conflict would quickly get her killed so she tries to use sabotage and subterfuge to wreak havoc with her enemies.
3) A discussion/explanation with respect to how closely the character follows normal practices of the chosen deity particularly in regards to the characters choice of weapon armor clothing and even colors worn.
Taevnil strictly adheres to wearing only black clothing and armor and proudly carries the whip her goddesses chosen weapon. She wears her holy symbol at all times an obsidian necklace with two red eye-shaped rubies but she keeps it hidden beneath her clothing when not in private worship. While she realizes she has the latitude to add purple or red to her clothing if she desires she is not likely to do so.
