| Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

History-
In a small, remote village in the middle of a huge wood, a young elven girl by the name of Elvania was born. This girl did not have a last name, for the village believed everyone was part of a whole and needed not last names. Rejoice was spread and a massive feast was held. Everyone honored their glorious deity, Katia. They prayed that this child would grow to be healthy and wise...
One hundred and twelve years have passed, and Elvania has grown strong and wise. She has been taught in the ways of archery, as has her ancestors. She learned quickly. She is very good with the longbow, and that is her main weapon. She only uses others when it is absolutely necessary. She also dislikes armor, that having to do with her deity. Once again, she only wears it when necessary.
One day, as she was praying, she realized that she wanted to go out to the real world, to see all of Mother Nature

Hey, welcome to Layo and I'm sorry you're having such problems. I suspect this is not your fault at all however, but the result of pasting from another program, such as Word. If this is the case, it is at least easily fixed. Take whatever text you want to paste, copy it here first. Text Cleaner for Layonara. Just paste it into the first box, press "clean method 1" then re-copy what is produced for you in the second.
Even that is actually unnecessary and is only provided for ease of use, however - simply pasting it into Notepad before the forums typically works just as well. I know it sounds weird, but it's because of certain characters that are messed up with our forums. Hope that helps. | | | | |

She said, "The outside world does nothing for Mother Nature, they only seek to destroy Her beauty. We only take what is necessary, nothing more. Those greedy other races do not care what happens to Her! She is our Mother, and without Her, we would be nothing."
"Well, mother," Elvania replied, "I must go help Her! Please, do not be angry with me. I feel like She is calling me to do this!"
Her mother turned away. "Go. And never come back. If you step out to where monsters destroy her, I do not want that soil to touch my home, that stench to feel the air, and that look you have in your eyes longing to be home pierce my heart."
Elvania, saddened and weeping softly got the basics for what she needed, and started to walk out of the village. The people turned away from her in shame, for they had heard the quarrel and agreed with her mother. Elvania, not wanting to look weak with her decision, held her head high... but as soon as she could not see the light of the village, a tear rolled down her cheek, yet she kept her head high. You may want to look at the maps of Layonara to pick a good place for her village. But that you can do as you go. Your character has been approved.

Some final notes on character creation:
- Please note that racial adjustments for players with subraces are skin based and thus get applied after getting in game.
- Only two ability scores can be less than 10 and only one can be less than 8 after racial adjustments
- Brownies, when selecting a head, the head you choose on the halfling selection will correspond to that numbered head for elves (for example, clicking right 6 times on the head selection during character creation will take the 6th head when clicking right on the elf creation)
- Half-giants and ogres, please ask for a GM (type /dm Anyone here?) if you would like to change to a custom skin.
