Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

| Request Alignment change and Multiclass - NOT APPROVED Character: Verideth Lightbringer
Age: 115
Gender: Male
Class: Druid
Race: Sun Elf
Alignment: Neutral Good
Deity: None
Since playing my PC, I have notice the elves outside of Voltrex are rarely bound together. I don't expect a race that is mostly CG to have set, agreed upon standards but it really feels like few elves care if your an elf or not. Many humans have been taught to speak elven and half elves flourish... This was further proven when elven PC's hung out with someone that murdered him.
This has terrified and sadden my PC. When he died and received a soul shard, it changed his mentality. He sees that most Elves adapt and pick up the actions of those around them. He wishes to become a shining example of how Elves should be. In effect he is picking up the mantle of this Race and caring more about his Father's teachings by becoming a mage and changing his alignment to LN.
Omar and Elohanna run a mage school and have approved to meet with me to allow admittance. We have not had this meeting but wanted to get the ball rolling. I plan on finding an in game Druid leader before doing this, because I would like to be allowed back into the druid class in my epic levels. I will of course continue to follow the druid rules and hierarchy.
I plan on going Wizard 14~20 and then more at epic levels.
Thanks!

| Re: Request Alignment change and Multiclass Hi there Verideth, and sorry for the wait. Internet issues.
Anyway, the results of discussion: - A druid would have to have a very good reason to leave the druidic path - particularly one as gifted as your (and Aerimor's) submissions make Verideth out to be. There's nothing any more inherently elven about being a Wizard than being a Druid. And abandoning the path of Nature and Balance for the path of the Arcane would have consequences of its own...
- ...namely, a complete loss of all Druidic abilities. If Verideth is approved for (and completes) a CDQ to make the change to Wizard, he will be rebuilt as a Ranger with as close to the same feat/skill selection as he already has - his deeper connection with nature severed forever.
With these facts in mind, do you still wish to apply for the class change?
(The alignment change will be considered separately, regardless of your choice in this matter.)

| Re: Request Alignment change and Multiclass Hello Darkstorme. Thanks for the reply.
So in effect, if a druid multi classes at all (except for shifter) you lose your class entirely.
At a later date, if I complete a CDQ to go back into druid, do I get those original levels back?
Curious if Monk and Paladin are the same. Once you leave, you lose your abilities too.
Thanks for the responses and guidance, as I figure out the does and don't with Layonara.

| Re: Request Alignment change and Multiclass Reply is forthcoming - a few of your questions are without precedent (as there has never been a druid who left the path and later returned in Layonara).

To save on rebuilds (which are costly in terms of time and can result in no end of trouble), the policy is similar to that of a cleric who has left their faith - all druid levels remain, but no druidic abilities (except for automatic calm) may be used. | As indicated above, the levels aren't actually lost, so yes - but it would be a harder road to reenter the Path than it was to leave it. Quote: |

| With Monk, it is not the case. The only connections a Monk has are internal - training for years to connect to their inner self, to focus on personal perfection. Though this will not progress if they leave the path, and requires much to return, a Monk does not forget the training they have already had.
A Paladin, on the other hand, is very similar to a Druid. As a holy warrior, his connection to his deity is every bit as integral to his class (most notably, his class abilities) as a Druid's connection to Nature. If he decides that he no longer wishes to be in holy orders, his deity is unlikely to take this well, and his powers would be stripped from him. A Paladin turned Fighter couldn't expect to smite someone down with holy wrath.
(The exceptions here are Paladins of Lucinda, who are, of course, encouraged by their deity to take up the arcane classes.) The general exception to this (as best I can see) would be a Paladin who decides to take off his armour in favour of vestments. A Paladin become Cleric would surely still be in his deity's favour, and should he take up his sword in defense of his God/dess, he should expect to find his old abilities still supported.
Hope this helps!

| Re: Request Alignment change I appreciate the thoughs and discussion by all the DM staff. It does help.
So for now I would like to abandon the class change and ask for the alignment change.
I really appreciate the time and willingness to discuss all this. Other servers have just said no, when a player breaks a paradigm and wants to do something not done before.

| Re: Request Alignment change and Multiclass Your character is NG right now... are you asking to shift to LN? If so, that is a dual shift -- to True Neutral (or Lawful Good) and then to Lawful Neutral.
You need to be aware this is a 2 step shift and will take significant amounts of time to complete. We're talking RL months to years. We ask that you apply for one shift at this time so that it may be approved and begin... you will need to decide to shift towards TN or LG first (I assume TN is first, but who knows what your plan is...).
