| Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. | Odd Character/Greatful Plea Request - CLOSED Yeah, I had wanted to keep this as quiet as possible (for my sanity's sake) and between Dorg and I, but I've been asked to come to the character approvers to ask their opinion on the matter. As This is probably a one of a kind request I am absolutely 100% uncertain as to how I am to word this.
Basically, I wanted to use one or all of my graceful pleas to bring back Rhynn to the level she was Minus the 5 for the returning from a 'permed' state (She was 26, I am willing to take her down as low as 17).
Dorg said that this was a character approver issue, seeing as the character has been deleted from the database. He said to ask you guys, and said he may approve it, may say no , may say to start her over from level 1 or some sort of other compromise. I don't know.
I'm not sure what other information you need. Basic info is as follows
Rhynnala Asantiani Age: Old, by now, not like that matters when it comes to adventurers. Class: Wizard (Illusionist Spec) Race: Human {Born on what is now called Alindor what was then known as Rilara Deity: Currently none. She in fact was known to have a distaste for the gods in general, especially Lucinda. Story: In a nutshell, Rhynn was trained by an elf named Saebhel who physically abused her, causing her to be distrustful of individuals for a long period of time. She is the daughter of a family of human Voraxites, who disdain her practice of magic. She has had many adventurers on the face of Layonara and is married to the once arch bard Ozymandias Llewellyn, and with him has one child Sarunielle.
She has royally angered the Silver Crescent slavers, and as such has gone into hiding with her family. Though now she {perhaps?} feels it safe to return, though who knows, perhaps she has left the realm in its entirty.
She has a familiar , an insane eyeball named Squishy that is convinced she is the Goddess of his people and leading them into exodus.
Languages: Elven, and Common. CDTS: http://forums.layonara.com/private-d...asantiani.html http://forums.layonara.com/developme...volume-ii.html
Any other questions can be brought up here. I honestly have no idea how this is going to go down, but Dorg told me its an option I could persue.
Have at it.
PS: I can offer a log of the PMs between Dorg and myself, if need be. *Shrug*
===
PPS: please stop sending angry/amused/escatic/apathetic blather to my email address on this subject. If you want to clutter something do it to my PM box. I don't care as much about that.

| Re: Odd Character/Greatful Plea Request Alright - after much discussion, here's the outcome.
Official policy on deletions is that once a character is deleted, they cannot be restored - neither by restoring a file in the character vault (which we can't do anyway once a deletion is finalized) nor by rebuilding them to any level. Graceful Pleas do not allow exemption from this rule.
So, if you want to bring Rhynn back, your only recourse is a restart from level one - for which you are formally approved, pending a justification for her tumble from power.
I'm sorry; I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but the policy was put in place for a number of reasons, and allowing exemptions would not only get messy but would be unfair to similar requests we have denied in the past.
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to post them here.

| Re: Odd Character/Greatful Plea Request Alrighty! Well that settles that =P Glad to put the Graceful Plea test to work then. At least this will clear things up for others, though I wonder how one could bring a permed character back if they were deleted from the vault as well :S in a hypothetical situation, or is that different since the Deletion is more routine and less asked for?
Thanks for Approving a level 1 Rhynn though, I assume she can keep her memories, adventurers, etc etc etc.? It may be fun to think of a reason for her to lose her power I may do it. I'm going to hold onto this approval and give it some thought. Thanks.

| Re: Odd Character/Greatful Plea Request Permed characters are not deleted from the vault. We only delete characters at the request of the player, not at our own initiative.

| Re: Odd Character/Greatful Plea Request She can keep memories and so forth, provided you find a reasonable justification for her to do so.
She's a wizardess, after all - most of her power lies in her mind, so if she's going to lose that... well...
Anyway, if and when you decide to bring her back, make a thread in Character submissions and link to this one. Moving to Character Approvals for posterity.
