Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default The Return of Jhereg Manta

Name: Jhereg Manta
Age: mid-late 30's (about 36, 37 now)
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral Good
Class: Cleric
Diety: Shindaleria
Domains: Water and Healing

Bio: (in description) The man you see is quite tall at least 6 feet if noit taller, he is clean shaven and has long well kept dark hair which is tied back in a ponytail. His left eye seems to be blind and has a scar running across it, his right is ice blue in color. His right leg is secured by a metal leg brace from the mid thigh all the way down to his foot and yet he walks almost normal. His face looks rough from obvious exposure to harsh elements. Despite all of this he seems to always have a slight smile on his face. He speaks in a low steady voice.

(past to present)

Jhereg went through many troubled times after arriving on mistone. From head injures that change his personality to loss of friends and body parts, Jhereg has seen and done it all. Jhereg left Mistone and headed out into the sea in order to seek answers about his mysterious past. He spent many days in the sea and at times thought he had lost his way. While in the vast blue he realized the wrongs he had done and regretted what he had done on Mistone. He sometimes even regretted going there and ever being born. But despite is regrets he continued to sail the sea not knowing where or what he would find next.

One night the wind shifted and Jheregs leg stiffend...Something was wrong. he went to the sail but discovered that they had been stripped away gone yet his boat was being forced towards a small island surrounded by jagged rocks. Jhereg had never trusted the gods before and had never prayed to them but for some reason he began to pray. He prayed to the sea for aid and forgiveness, for enlightenment and for vision. He boat seemed to struggle. It would sway toawrds the rocks then away. The the currents would push his boat closer and closer but finally the currents reversed and he escaped further damage to his boat and his death. His prayers had been answered . His boat was steered away from the rocks and Jhereg somehow knew where to go. He landed on a small beach and found a small village. There he found a camp of freed slaves and the final resting place of his parents. He learned the tale of how his parents had given him to a friend so he could grow up free without the confinements of chains or whippings. The man that told him this tale was his younger sister Jiera. For the first time in his life Jhereg cried tears of Joy. Not for the death of his parents but the end of his search for answers. He had always thought he was abandoned and unloved. But know he knew.

Jhereg also saw that he was needed elsewhere. Mistone was still in danger and Jhereg had simply turned his back on the place he had made so many memories. He hugged his newly found sister goodbye and set sail. He knew not where he was but he was guided by something, someone. Whilst in the middle of the sea Jhereg was approached by a Great whale. It said nothing but only looked at him. He stood in awe as the large creature looked him in the eye. Something was wrong with it and Jhereg knew. He approached the edge of his boat and the Whale opened it mouth. At first Jhereg thought to attack but the realized the problem. In the tongue of the Great animal lay a spear. It had pierced the tongue and stuck into the bottom jaw. He knew not why but he stuck his had within the mouth and removed the spear, then placed his hands on the wound and watched as it sealed over. The creature faded into the blue abyss below...the message was clear and Jhereg continued on to the land he once lived. Mistone.

(I know jhereg had issues in the past but I plan on taking things in a completely new direction, hope I will be able to play this out. thanks)
