Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. When you join you'll also be able to communicate privately to other members (PMs), establish and respond to polls, upload and download content and access many other special features. Default Gordash

Full Name:Â Gordash
Age: 20
Class:Fighter
Race: Half-Orc
Alignment:ÂNeutral Good
Diety:Â VoraxÂ
Short Bio / Description:

Gordash grewÂup in deplorable circumstances.ÂÂHis mother lived withÂher husband on the outskirts of Timoshev.ÂÂShe was kidnapped during an orc raid on the nearby farmland.ÂÂÂSoon afterwards Gordash was born into virtual slavery to the orc tribe, he was different lookingÂbut strong so he was continually beaten and given menial tasks. Occasionally he wouldÂsneak in to see his mother and she loved him very much and he felt comfortable onlyÂwhen he was near her.ÂÂ

As he lived with the orc tribe, he was forced to worship Grand whom Gordash came to despise over time. Inside him, from his mother's love grew a spark of goodness that even the beatings couldn't extinguish. OneÂnight he was caught visiting his motherÂby anÂorc who came in to abuse his mother. Out of pure evil the orc beat her to death on front ofÂGordash and something snapped inÂhim. He picked up aÂnearby club and hit the orc from behind knocking him down andÂproceeded to kill the orc, anger filling him.

Then he tried to make his mother wake upÂbut she wouldn't for some reason. Although not smart, Gordash knew he must get out of the camp quickly or he would be killed as well. Taking his mother's body he fled the camp that night making his way he not knew. He travelled long that night and still his mother wouldn't wake up. Dazed and confused, he eventually dropped his mother's body, continuing on, putting one foot in fromt of the other till he collapsed in a field.

Later he awoke in the morning and was spotted by the farmer who owned the field. Lucklily for Gordash this farmer had adventured before and had known that some half orcs are good, he took a chance with Gordash, using basic gestures and the little orc the man knew, he told Gordash he would employ him to help on the farm. Although the farmer thought he would have to kill him, he was suprised to see a gentle spirit in the hulking half orc. Gordash stayed on the farm for a few years and eventually learned limited common.Â

The farmer himself knew of a priest of Vorax that he managed to convince to come to the farm as he thought Gordash needed skills as a warrior to survive. The priest, unconvinced at first eventually saw someting he liked, an utter, seething hatred of Orcs in Gordash. He thought what better way to honor Vorax than to bring one born under Grand into Vorax's fold so he trained Gordash in the ways of fighting and about being in Vorax's service. Gordash didn't absorb all of it of course but he liked the BIG bigun Vorax, Vorax liked to kill Orcs and Gordash wanted that very badly.Â

Soon, he was old enough that the priest and the farmer agreed that Gordash needed to venture out on his own so they purchased him passage on a vessel in Port Hampshire to Haven and told him to look for Hlint....many strong warriors live there......
