Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Elrith Di'nan: A beautiful day with a twist of irony.

Full Name: Elrith Di'nan
Age: 200
Class: Pure Bard, unless of course the Mistone alliance ever calls upon him
Race: Elf
Gender: Male
Alignment: Neutral Good
Deity: Aragen

...Ten hours after noon...

Smooth black hair is tied into a bun behind Elrith's head to keep his eyes clear of impediments. He writes vigorously, his index fingers turning red, into order to insure this sacred document is recorded in time. One had requested of Elrith to write this romantic ballad, and offered him quite the reward if he could complete it to his liking in a single day. After about an hour, his once sloppy piece of art had been transfered in neat cursive onto another sheet of paper, another presentable literary work was complete at the hands of Elrith.

"What was this piece of art for?" Elrith wondered. His employer had asked him to write a sensual love ballad, but did not tell him what for. All Elrith knew was that he was due at a nearby grove within the hour, or else his hard work was for naught. Elrith rolled up the ballad into a tight scroll, and dipped a stamp into a small pot of boiling wax, and sealed the gift elegantly.

...Nearly eleven hours after noon...

Nearly late, but punctual as always, Elrith arrived at the local grove only to gaze upon one of the loveliest weddings he had ever seen thrown together. Bells where chiming softly, elves chanting slowly to their simple melody. There was his employer, kissing his bride. "Oh no, am I late?" Elrith said at first loudly, but then softly as to not disturb this sacred ceremony.

Elves clapped as Elrith's employer removed his lips from his bride, and then turned to Elrith noticing his colorful clothing, and said, "Come!". Elrith walked past the rows of seated elves and a few humans and half-elves, and shook his employer's extended hand. "Do you have the gift for my bride?" the man asked.

"Of course," Said Elrith, "I would not have arrived if I didn't complete it. Although I wish I had known this was for such a splended occasion."

"Nonsense," Replied his employer, "May I see the ballad?"

Again, Elrith responded, "Of course." Only this time, Elrith handed him the scroll. His employer broke the seal on the ballad and gazed upon it's elegance. Not once had he seen such a fine piece of poetry written before.

"Can you sing it?" His employer asked, changing the appreciative grin on Elrith's face into a rather sheepish one.

"Of course..." Replied Elrith for the third time, this time in a rather shy manner, as he once again held the scroll and faced the audience.

A Lover's Tale
by Elrith Di'nan

Many women he had met but if he chose but one,
Her skin would be the loveliest under the scorching sun.

**The bride began to grin even wider than before.**

Her eyes would drown the ocean blue and captivate her love,
Her body'd be as graceful as the wingspan of a dove.
Her walk would leave an air of confidence and hopes arising
For even in the darkest hour she will keep on shining.
Her voice would be the soften thing a man could ever hear,

**At this point, the bride begins to cry.**

And every moment since you met you'd want to hold her near.

With the bride crying behind him, and the audience completely silence, Elrith kept a straight face and walked once more down the aisle, this time failing to accept defeat, his heart beating blood very quickly, and his arms persperating quite rapidly.

And then they clapped. It started with on man, then it became two, and before long, the entire grove was full of loud clapping, including the bride and the groom. Elrith turn towards them and smiled, bowing, unable to request his usual free for a work of art. Elrith then turned away, keeping a straight face the whole time, keeping his secret deep within him.

The bride was one of the ugliest elves he had ever seen.
