Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Oh Hello dear Friend,

you asks what a Svirfneblin is doing here on the Surface? Well i can tell you the Story if you want to hear it.

I was born deep down in the Underdark, i a city called Gwenhall. As every Svirfneblin i love the Art of crafting,, but specially i love gems over all. She smiles brightly. In my early Years I made many expeditions with full Troops of Miners. My Part was mostly to watch over it and give them a bit savety. I Loved my life and the arts of carving Gems.

One Day a merchant of the Surface meets a Group of us somewhere in the Underdark, he had Gems with him i ve never seen before, he told me that theese Gems will shine even brighter in the Sunlight. Oh i can say you i want to see this. Gems are my passion you know, So i decided to come with him up to the Surface. We traveld some Days together sometimes sneaking sometimes running till we get to the surface allready.

My first attempt to look at the Gems in the Sunlight failed, this much light, my eyes need to adapt and so i stayed in the smal hole for a while till the moon raises. I cant even describe my feelings seeing my Gems in the Moonlight.

But what can I say, in the midday i was betrayed by this Human Merchant, he stole all my gems while i was sleeping and went away. I only warn you my Gnomish Cousin, never trust anybody you dont really know.

So i stand there lost in this World, nothing more than my Rapier and my spells with me, but no i cant leave the surface, once seen my beloved Gems in the moonlight, i wont miss this again. I went out searching for a new beginning in this World, seeking gems whereever i can find them. After many days I finaly arrived here, here in Hilt. Oh Oh yes the Rapier, i know it is quite a uncommon weapon for us, but it was a gift of my father, he teaches me how to handle this Weapon as Deadly as an Orc would use a Greatsword. Oh yes right you are, the most beautifull gems often are hidden or secured by traps, i am also prepared to reach them, traps are no match for me.

You know a Dungeon with hidden Chests? Some Gems maybe? Why do we stand here and talk? Lets go!

General Behavior:

- She dont thrust anybody, allways thinking about a backstab.
- Whenever she can, she travels in the Shadows of the Houses or trees, her Eyes hurt to much in the pure Daylight.
- When the Moon shines, she pulls out her gems and look at them for a moment.
- All what lets her go out on Adventures is the chance to get some more Gems.
- Friendship with her has to be earned.
- She is allways the first looting the Bodys or Chests and look if there are Gems within.
- if she has to decide either to fight or to carve gems, she will allways begin to carve, others can handle the creatures. She is so possed of getting gems, she forget nearly everything around her. Someone has to tell her first to fight, maybe then she will fight first.

When a gnome uses a rapier, its two handed. So you will lose all your duelist abilities. A gnome COULD use a shortsword or dagger and keep their abilities. But you will still require weapon focus: Rapier.
Just a heads up.

Be very careful of her greed. Going for the treasure while others have fought the fight or even worse..during the fight could cause you a bit of grief with the other players.
