Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Emelin Rinheart

Name: Emelin Rinheart
Age: 19
Class: Fighter/Wizard (8/12)
Race: Human
Sub race: none
Alignment: Lawful Good
Deity: Lucinda

Emelin was a child of a small family. She lived in an off skirt town that did trade with many other small villages in the area. Her father, a strong and brave man, was a relatively wealthy merchant and was a much better swordsman. Her mother, a strong-willed and witty woman, was a good cook and a loving, caring mother.
However, when she was 7 years old her town was under raid of a fairly large group of bandits. The town had a militia for handling smaller groups of bandits, but this one was far too large to be controls. What was even worse was there was a group of necromancers that had joined the bandits in their raid. Emelin’s parents fought to try and protect her, but the necromancer’s foul magic destroyed her parents in an instant. With a few cursed arcane words her parents were raised from the dead and turned on to her. The necromancer had given out a laugh of glee at the little girl’s predicament. All Emelin could do was throw her hands up in the air to fend for her self and scream.

Hearing the scream a man named Lent Steel, a devout follower of Lucinda, had come to her rescue. With a white-hot spark of arcane magic Emelin’s now undead parents hit the ground in a slight moan. The necromancer shocked at his new predicament and began canting a dark spell to slay them both. However, a swift blow with a heavy quarterstaff put an end to the necromancer’s life. He now lay dead with his former puppets.

Emelin was still sobbing over her parents’ death and the cruel fate that had become of them. Lent Steel seeing that the battle was not going to end will for the town, and with the newly implanted bandit arrow in his arm he realized the he would no longer be of any assistance to the falling town. So he grabbed Emelin and jumped on the back of a horse and fled off. He had kept Emelin safe by shielding her body from the bandit’s wicked arrows.

They had set up camp in the far out plains out of sight of the bandits. Emelin had sobbed the entirety of the day and into her sleep. The next morning Emelin was still hurt, but she thanked her savior and they had found out a little about each other. They had seen the bandits leave their town and decided to return to see if there were any survivors. They had found nothing that had still stood; everything was a charred remain of its former self. They had spent two days putting the dead to rest in graves. The only memento that she had taken with her was her father’s long sword that he had used to defend her. It was grueling and heartbreaking work for a child and left her with emotional scars for the rest of her life.
The two had decided that this town was no more and they had fled to a nearby town, Hlint. There, Lent had taken her as his own, and taught her the ways of the weave. Emelin was a very good listening to her teacher, but she also practiced swordsmanship so she could be like her father. At the age of 19 Emelin’s mentor died form a bad disease and she was left alone to fend for her self. She had taken up her father’s sword and left out to look for adventure and strike down foul undead creatures and those that relate to them.
